Description
Ace's Hit List series returns with another top-notch collection of US Hot 100 hits from the first half of the 1970s. The 1970s are now viewed with the same serious musical appreciation as the 50s and 60s. Hit List 2 will be a valuable addition to the collection of anyone who grew up listening to the decade's vibrant music. The album-oriented sound of FM radio might have arrived in the US by the start of the decade, but via the AM band you could still hear a diversity of snappy 45s on your transistor radio. Hit List 2 revisits another 24 of those singles, many of which were also successful in the UK. All versions heard here are the original US single versions, rather than the often-different album versions that have frequently been compiled into other 70s collections. In true Ace style, many of the featured artists are as popular now as when they charted with these songs, while for others the featured selection represented their one moment of chart fame. The CD booklet features extensive track-by-track annotation and a treasure trove of memorabilia, including a pan-global panorama of every label of every 45 that's featured.

Linda, was there a 1st volume for this? I tried 2 searches: hot 100 chartbusters of the 70s, and hit list hot 100 chartbusters, but got no original volume in the results (just a Motown reissue on another label). Maybe its release simply wasn't reported here? If anyone know anything about what came out before this vol. 2, please let me know. Thanks.

Description
In the tradition of "Golden Age Of American Rock‘n’Roll" and "Chartbusters USA" Ace now debuts its series devoted to the fascinating American Hot Hundred hits of the 1970s. These 24 hits all made the Billboard Top 40 between 1970 and 1976, and all of them stand the test of time as capably as their 50s and 60s equivalents. From one-hit wonders, to those who still fill concert halls in the 21st century, all the featured artists and their recordings played their part in helping to make the 70s as significant for American chart music as the previous 20 years had been; Enjoy!

These look great, but I wish there were more rarities here. I have everything that I need from these already. I will say though that given the typical quality of Ace products, these are probably going to sound good.

Vol. 2 does include "God, Love And Rock N Roll" by Teegarden And Van Winkle, which reached #22 in 1970. Quite hard to find on CD.
