Did Bowie's catalog move to Rhino now? I thought it was just acquired by Sony.

One of the greatest "Best Of" albums.
Hopefully they'll do it some sonic justice.

The original vinyl version is almost perfection and for years with Ziggy and Station To Station was my early Bowie collection,
If it had Heroes it would be even more awesome.

I think it was the second Bowie album I bought and it was a perfect album IMO. I think hearing it in the original 11 track form is the best way to take it in.

I guess it's just me, but I don't see any way to justify an 11 song comp for an artist with a catalog as large & great as Bowie's. And I disagree with Jason; (while i don't like any version of Fame) assuming sound quality is comparable I'd choose an 18 track version over an 11 track any day!
There are also getting to be quite a few DB best of's, & imo this is the most incomplete of the bunch.

It is a perfect record as originally released. An introduction to his work, that (even though just chronological) is beautifully sequenced. Every track segues nicely into the next. It tells the story of Bowie's early 70s output concisely. It is an artifact that represents many people's first exposure to Bowie. I think it should be in print in perpetuity. Every home should have one. Can you tell I love this album?

There are also getting to be quite a few DB best of's, & imo this is the most incomplete of the bunch. It's 11 songs because it came out in 1976. You know vinyl's limitations then. It's an iconic best of and many people warmly recall it. Like me with Made in the Shade from the Stones. Expanding this would defeat the purpose!

I actually owned it at one time due to the inclusion of John I'm Only Dancing; which at the time of release was somewhat rare.

And because of that John I'm Only Dancing has become a favorite though it's not technically a hit song.

I just skimmed the initial post when I first saw this thread because I was already aware of this release. So I didn't realize that this was only about the CD release. ChangesOneBowie is also being rereleased on vinyl. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CQFMJF0/?tag=imwan-20From Amazon: "May 20, 2016 is 40 years to the day that David Bowie's first ever best-of compilation, including songs from 1969 to 1976, CHANGESONEBOWIE was released. The album will be reissued on 180 gram heavyweight vinyl to mark this anniversary. " What this doesn't mention is that half the copies will be on black vinyl, half on clear vinyl, and that these will be packaged randomly with no indication on the sleeve as to which version you are getting. From Bowie's site:"20th May, 2016, marks forty years since David Bowie's first ever best of compilation, CHANGESONEBOWIE (with tracks from the period 1969 to 1976), was released. The album stayed in the Top 10 for eleven weeks, peaking at #2.To mark this anniversary CHANGESONEBOWIE is being reissued on 180g heavyweight vinyl, cd and digital formats including Mastered for iTunes.Half of the limited vinyl will be black while the other half will be clear, this will not be mentioned on the sleeve so it will be completely random as to which one you end up with. This creates what is possibly the first vinyl equivalent of Schrödinger's cat for collectors who decide to leave their records sealed." http://www.davidbowie.com/news/changeso ... -may-55791

This compilation is redundant today, material-wise, but I've always loved the cover art. I've never owned it on CD (and didn't even realize it was getting a CD re-release -- thought this was vinyl-only) but will probably go for this. I can't help myself.

I owned this on cassette back in the 80s. This was the first Bowie release I ever purchased.
