1965 marks the starting point of one of the most successful rock bands of our time. Hailing from Hannover, Germany, the Scorpions embarked on a journey that would lead them around the globe and would establish them as one of the greatest rock bands of all time.

With the November 6th release of the 50th Anniversary Deluxe Editions, the Scorpions celebrate their impressive achievements and open their vaults to unleash hitherto unreleased songs, alternative versions of big hits, rough mixes and rare live concert footage.

In addition to dozens of unheard studio tracks and live recordings, all CD releases are equipped with extended booklets featuring rare photos and, single covers, backstage passes and additional liner notes by Edgar Klüsener, a former editor in chief of Metal Hammer who has followed the band‘s career closely over several decades. Five of the eight albums are accompanied with a DVD that contains live concert footage from the respective period, together with TV- performances and in- depth interviews with the band. In these interviews they talk about the background history and the creative process of each of these albums: “Lovedrive”, “Blackout”, “Love At first Sting”, “World Wide Live” and “Savage Amusement”.

The remastered LP formats are released on 180-gram vinyl in a sleeve replicating the first pressing. They also come with an audio CD, featuring the original track listing and the same bonus audio as the CD formats. A limited and numbered Deluxe Box Set will contain all remasted vinyl discs.

Scorpions said, “It’s hard to summarise 50 years in words, but listening back to all those songs – many of them them previously unreleased - recorded in one of our most creative periods, really took us back in time. This was a very heartfelt project for all of us. It brought back great memories whilst we rediscovered our musical DNA by listening to the archives, selecting dozens of unreleased songs and early versions of well-known Scorpions anthems. We really worked on the material to improve the sound quality, but always taking great care to preserve its original feel.”

WOW! They are going to break my bank account.

I need these two first. "Lovedrive" and "Animal Magnetism".

We think alike. :ohyes: Don't forget to add Tokyo Tapes to that. It's an awesome live album. Animal was my first Scops album. I'll get 'em all but I'll concentrate on the early stuff before they went commercial.

Yeah, your right Mark52063. Need to the add "Tokyo Tapes" as well. I am sure over the year(s) I'll be getting all of them for the extras.

This is awesome news, but to be honest, without Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance and Virgin Killer this feels very incomplete.

Those albums are critical for any Scorps fan.

Lonesome Crow not so much.

In any case, these will be mine.

The Scorpions from 1974-85 were dynamite (pun intended).

If these aren't brickwalled, I'm very interested. The last round of 90's Scorps remasters were very poorly done.

Those were bone dry and I agree, poorly done.

The "packaging" was a joke. You couldn't even tell the difference.

Suha Gur I believe did those?

I found this very strange too.

Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, Virgin Killer, Taken By Force and Tokyo Tapes were all on one label (RCA). Lovedrive through Savage Amusement were on another label (Harvest in Europe). So the 8 reissues in this series are already spread across two labels, so why weren't the rest of the RCA titles included in this series? Maybe everyone involved wanted to avoid the controversy that accompanies the original cover of Virgin Killer and just decided to start with Taken By Force?

Lonesome Crow was originally on the Brain label and as far as I know it's never gone to the hands of a major label and has always just sat there on it's own, so it wouldn't have been surprising to see this one absent even if all the RCA titles had been included. Crazy World was released on Mercury/Polygram in Europe so it's not surprising to see this reissue series end with Savage Amusement.

Personally I would have loved to see them run this series from Lonesome Crow all the way through Pure Instinct (which was on yet another label, EastWest/Warner in Europe)...that's pretty much when I lost interest all through I will say they have released some quality material (as well as some real garbage) since then.

The only thing that worries me is if these new releases were specifically designed for the European market which could mean the DVDs would be the PAL format. Although the majority of recent European music DVDs have been all region, NTSC or PAL compatible...some record label bonehead can still figure out a way to screw things up and that would be the easiest way to really mess up these releases (other than brickwalling the CDs which I just assume will happen).

All pc's & many USA dvd players will play PAL.

I've posted this before:

For home players (there are hundreds of players listed in these links that simply need a handset code entered to be region free, & there are many more that will at least convert region free PAL to NTSC):

World Wide Live is a CD that I've always meant to get, but just never did.

Well, good things come to those who wait, because now I can get the DVD as well. This the Scorpions' prime period for me, as I got on board with Blackout and remained an album buying fan until Crazy World.

If I could only have 1 Scorps cd, it would probably be WWL. I saw the tour promoting the album. What impressed me the most were the back up vocals; metal bands don't sing that well live! (I hope they weren't taped, it would totally blow my image).

I haven't really bought the Scorpions on CD, now it looks like I will. I saw them open for Rainbow at The Garden in 1982 and then headline the Nassau Coliseum in 1984.

I saw the Scorps at The Spectrum in Philly in 1984 with an unknown Bon Jovi opening.

Also in 1988 at JFK Stadium opening for Van Halen on the Monsters of Rock tour with Metallica, Dokken and Kingdom Come.

As well as in 2002 co-headlining with Deep Purple and Dio opening at the PNC Center in Holmdel, NJ.

And in 2012 at the Mann Music Center with Tesla opening.

All 4 shows were absolutely fantastic. Scorpions put on one of the best live shows in Hard Rock/heavy Metal anyone could see.

Long live the human pyramid.

Since we're talking about shows.........

I saw them open for Ted Nugent back in 1979 (Lovedrive) in St. Paul, Mn. Blackfoot was also there. Scorps, Blackfoot and then Ted. This was the show that made me a Scorps fan. I bought Lovedrive the next day.

I saw them open for Ted Nugent the following year in 1980 (Animal Mag) in St. Paul, Mn. Just them and Ted.

Then I saw them in Bremen, Germany on the Blackout tour. Blackfoot was the opener. Kind of ironic.

Then I saw them at the 1985 Texxas Jam in Dallas.
Deep Purple, Scorpions, Night Ranger, Ted Nugent, Bon Jovi, Grim Reaper, & Victory.

Then I saw them at again at the 1988 Texxas Jam in Dallas.
Van Halen, Scorpions, Dokken, Metallica, & Kingdom Come.

Then I saw them again that fall in Dallas.
Scorpions and Winger.

Top that.

I've seen them more. I have all of their Blu ray's and watch them any time I want. :D

I feel sorry for your wallet and wife. 8-)

Good band (Rush) to see and worth every dime. Sadly, I saw them only twice.... both times in 1981 on the Moving Pictures tour (Minneapolis). They did two nights there.

I think Rush are my most seen band.

They were my first show in 1982 with Rory Gallagher.

I'm envious you saw the Scorps in 1979 and especially in 1982 with Rainbow (I think Riot were on the bill here too), a show I missed as a kid in Philly. (I did see Rainbow and Aldo Nova in 1983 so I was happy).

My wife never went to any Rush shows with me-but we did see a lot of shows together.

Back to the Scorps, I hope they go back and do the other albums.

I know Hip-O/Universal (I think?) did remasters with bonus cuts of Lonesome Crow, Taken By Force and Tokyo Tapes but never did the rest.
