This new comp is an expanded version of one released in 2006 by Union Square/Metro. The original had 23 tracks. The new one has more Sonny Boy and Yardbirds. I doubt Clapton had anything to do with its release.

i get that the artist is totally unaware of some of these releases that sneak out there, especially that ones on the off-labels, but it just bothers me that "people" (we know who they are) try to make a buck off of unsuspecting consumers who heard "i shot the sheriff: or :wonderful tonight" on their sirius radios while they were skimming through channels and run out to wal-mart to buy something by that artists and these bogus comps are littering the bins.

All one needs to do is check the track notation. If one does not do so it's buyer beware. Of course, were all seasoned pros here. I just don't feel sorry for anybody who does their CD shopping in Wal-Mart anyway.

Metro Select is a Union Square imprint for deluxe (2CD) compilations. Some of their titles in the past year have been expanded versions of earlier 1CD collections on the plain Metro label, others have been entirely new collections, and both kinds have featured material recorded later than the EU's current copyright expiration year of 1964.
The extra material on this particular set might be for the purposes of copyright extension, since the early Yardbirds recordings are controlled by Sanctuary, which in turn is distributed by Union Square.

Every compilation that a legitimate label releases should be listed on the ICE boards, Renny.

I’ve bought lots of cd’s at WalMart through the years mostly because the ones here in Bakersfield are pretty well stocked and cheap as heck. If it weren’t for WalMart I probably would have never tried out John Mellencamp on cd if I hadn’t seen a copy of Scarecrow there for 5 bucks years ago, and back when Caedmon’s Call had finally released Raising Up the Dead on cd no other place even had it around here but for WalMart, not even specific Christian stores like Berean’s or Lifeway. I get that WalMart’s customer service is usually crappy, but for me at least they seem to keep their cd inventory pretty well stacked, heck I’ve even bought Chicago, Train, and Peter Gabriel cd’s from them before, and when considering shipping prices sometimes it’s cheaper to buy cd’s at WalMart and just pay the sales tax than to order them online from Amazon and pay the shipping. WalMart may have its problems in other areas, but they’ve always been a pretty good place to shop for cd’s in my opinion, and when compared to other places around here like Target or Best Buy WalMart is practically king.
