The two-disc set above is being referred to as a "Deluxe Edition" by Rhino. There wll also be a "Standard Edition", which is just a one-disc distillation of the full set:

it's infrequent that any "best-of" collection is flawless.
that being said, i'm still always disappointed when studio "hits" are replaced by live versions.
why oh why is the version of "country road" live?!?

and there are 2 different studio versions of 'country road" to boot!

Very similar track listing is on the 2013 2-disc "Essential" which I bought at Target for $13.99. The one I bought has 30 tracks. This one has 37-- and a nicer cover photo. Capitalizing on the success of "Before This World." Oh...I'm sure that James had nothing to due with this marketing of his material.

The only place (that I know of) where you can get the single version of "Country Road" is on the 2003 Best Of James Taylor comp.

I remember reading a few years back that when he worked on the Audio Fidelity release of Sweet Baby James, Steve Hoffman remastered the single version in hopes that WB might let them include it. Alas, no.
