I have been waiting years for the rest of the classic albums to get the treatment.
This is excellent news.
I'd expect no bonus cuts, but that doesn't bother me.

Rick A. Probably Warner Bros. Presents. Paper Money was the last with Sammy Hagar though. That one is good but is lacking something. I think Warner Bros. Presents is the best of the three. Bob James was a very good singer but replacing Sammy was difficult Jump on It (with an awful album cover) is average. Each album has killer songs though and some of Ronnie's guitar playing is through the moon. I advise getting them all. It will give me a chance to reexamine those albums after all these years.

I never had "Warner Bros. Presents" so I'll go with that. I didn't go for "Paper Money" only because of the let down after the first but like you said thre's been enough time allows foe a reevalaution. And with Ronnie on guitar there are going to be some great licks everywhere. And last thing, you and I share the love for "Rock Candy" remasters. (I've already preordered my RATT remasters. ) Rick A.

Dr. Chris Evil wrote: Did they remaster the first album already? Yes, and the extensive liner notes and remastering was fanatastic. I want to say it was around 2011 or so? I had the honor of interviewing Ronnie's wife for my book and it was really nice connecting with her. I explained my love for his playing and passion for music and that he was one of the reasons for my book, and she got pretty emotional. She is a really special woman and Ronnie was very important to me. She sent me so many CDs and DVDs of Ronnie I was overwhelmed. Buying these is a no-brainer for me.

I have the AF gold disc of the first album, which sounds pretty good.
I gave up on Montrose remasters and got a used copy of Paper Money.
Are the non-Sammy Montrose albums worth getting, Pete?

We should only refer to him as "Sam" in a Montrose thread.

Are the non-Sammy Montrose albums worth getting, Pete? In my book I talk about those last two albums. Both are a mixed bag, but Warner Bros. Presents Montrose has some incredible material like "Matriarch" which has quite the Deep Purple sound, "Black Train" (which is close to Speed Metal), the beautiful guitar piece "One and a Half" and the 7 minute epic "Whaler" which has mind-blowing guitar work. I really like this album and the cover of Alan Price's "O Lucky Man!" is really good too. Jump on It has some highlights for sure such as "Merry Go Round", "Tuft-Sedge", "Let's Go" and "Music Man". So, yeah, I'd recommend the latter albums but nothing touches the debut. But, few Hard Rock albums ever made could. Warner Bros. Presents Montrose is the one to get though.

Just heard an interview with the author of Van Halen Rising. He said that Ted Templeman wanted to sign Eddie Van Halen and not the band. He was envisioning getting Sammy Hagar to sing for Eddie. I had heard rumours about this, but I always heard it as Warner Bros wanted to replace Dave with Sammy before the first album was recorded. And of course, Eddie cites the Montrose album as an influence, so ya can see how I tied this all together.

Bump: Added the pre-order links to the first post. They've been pushed back to November 20th, and as Pete surmised, all three albums are newly remastered but contain no bonus tracks.
