Description
On 18 September 2015, Eagle Rock Entertainment will release “What’s Going On – Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival 1970” by Taste. This is a simultaneous release on DVD, Blu-ray, 2LP and CD formats represents the first ever video release of this legendary performance.

The film tells the story of Eire's seminal rock band Taste, formed in Cork, Ireland in 1966 by Rory Gallagher, Taste had a brief but influential career, releasing two studio albums in 1969 and 1970 and disbanding shortly after their legendary appearance at the 1970 Isle Of Wight Festival, which is the centrepiece of this film. The core of “What’s Going On” is the band’s performance at the festival on August 28th but it is encapsulated by a documentary on the history and importance of Taste and setting the scene for their Isle Of Wight Festival appearance. This features contributions from Rory’s brother and Taste road manager Donal Gallagher along with Brian May (Queen), The Edge (U2), Bob Geldof and renowned guitarist Larry Coryell. Taste’s performance at the festival was so well received that Jimi Hendrix when asked on the Sunday, “How does it feel to be the best guitarist in the world”, replied, “I don’t know, why don’t you go and ask Rory Gallagher?”

The original 1970 footage was shot by Academy Award winning director Murray Lerner. The 16mm film has been restored and the sound remixed for this 2015 version of “What’s Going On – Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival 1970” which includes all the tracks on the original 1971 Polydor LP plus several additional tracks. Bonus features on this release include three tracks from the German TV series Beat Club: “If The Day Was Any Longer”, “It’s Happened Before, It’ll Happen Again” and “Morning Sun”. Additionally there are three conceptual music videos for the tracks “I’ll Remember”; “What’s Going On” and “Born On The Wrong Side Of Time”.

Per usual, I'm only in if there's a 96/24 version. I already have the cd.

The new cd version has 4 unissued tracks that were not on the previously released cd.

The old CD version sounded terrible, this will have to sound better at least

Bump: The CD and Vinyl listings have temporarily gone dormant, but we now have active pre-order links for the DVD and Blu-ray in the first post.

And we also have this video sample:

Linda, any chance you could use what little influence you have with Amazon to ask them to start listing audio bit rate on music blu-rays? I think it's insane that they aren't.

I have suggested it in the past, and will again. This would be very useful information.

Ordered BluRay
Won't bother getting CD. I'll just rip the audio from BluRay to try and save a few $ for a change

I haven't figured out how to chapter br audio yet, other than knowing the timings & manually doing 1 track at a time as the br shows up on my pc as one long stream..

Geff, Amazon UK was receptive to the idea -- some listings are starting to appear with a new "Sound Formats" entry (although it's currently shoehorned into the "About The Actor" subheading :)). For example, the new Clapton (which hopefully will be receiving a domestic release as well):

DVD - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B014FQ4EY2/?tag=imwan-21
BD - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B014FQ4C5I/?tag=imwan-21

Waiting to see if Amazon USA follows suit.

I don't know the exact math involved in converting PCM to Flac, but I've read that this converts to 5736 kbs Flac audio, which is the highest # I've ever seen, so it's likely TRUE hi-res audio.

I have confirmed this is 96/24. I will be getting it. I have noticed that if I'm patient, most Eagle concert blu's will drop to $7-$8 pretty quickly. I'm going to be patient!

This does look and sound amazing. I've been a huge fan of Gallagher's playing since I first saw the "Live in Cork" VHS tape way, way back when. I'll have to get this one.

Very pleased with the amount of content for on the blu-ray for $10.50.

Though it is true 96/24, not thrilled with the sound. Loud, & the mix......... could be better

The CD sounds great!

Most of the Isle of Wight recordings were distorted due to the recording technology in 1970
I actually love the raw distorted sound. Bring it on!
