Is that Question 67 or 68?

I love all Chicago albums from CTA to Chicago XIV and I think 16, 17, 19 and 21 had their merits.

I immensely doubt 18-21 will finally be remastered here, but that would be nice.

I think it' s a 100% no.

I think with a little patience this could be had cheaply. I don't see the demand for this, this could be an Amazon/Popmarket special pretty quickly.

Does the first set include new remasters or the often hated 2000s remasters?

Poor remastering job, especially the earlier albums. Loud and shrill. CTA is probably the worst.

So much magnificent music from this band. So much abysmal music from this band.

I really can't think of another musical artist with so much output at both ends of the quality spectrum.

I've never understood why.

It's Bill Inglot and Dan Hersch and I think the sound is excellent on all the remasters.

Others would say I'm nuts, so take your pick!

Elton John comes to mind, but that's the only other artist I could come up with.

I agree Pete. I was very happy with those Rhino remasters. Certainly an improvement over the '80s CD pressings I owned for 20 years.

Actually, the CTA isn't so good. Chicago II never sounded very good to begin with. The rest of the remasters aren't as bad as their reputation. Most of the hate comes from people who feel that any loss of dynamic range means it's worse, even if there are other significant improvements.

Mastersound and MFSL versions of CTA are both excellent, by the way.

Chicago (or Chicago II) always sounded very muddy and still does, I agree.

I didn't find the Rhino remasters loud at all, but I did find that from Chicago V on, they sounded much better. Then again, the mixing and production on the first 3 albums leaves a lot to be desired. The music is second to none.

I was pissed about Chicago 16 using edits by mistake which is inexcusable (can't remember if it happened on Chicago 17 too). I wonder if that has been fixed here.

I never felt a need to get the early albums. I have the old 90s box set which I feel sounds really good and the old greatest hits as well.

The American pre-order price has dropped by $12, and is now $67.98:

Nope...it's NOT Inglot/Hersch. I'd be thrilled if it were, and they should've let them handle it. But instead they went with Dave Donnelly at DNA Mastering for the Rhino remasters, and I have to say I do not love them, and lean closer to hating them. VII, my favorite classic album, is especially shrill to my ears.

The best sounding Chicago from this period, IMO, can be found on the Mark Wilder-mastered Group Portrait box.
