Description
When rockabilly emerged from the American South in the mid-1950s it was a shot heard 'round the world, born of a marriage of country & western and the proto-rock of early r&b.

Primitive and wild, and characterised by slap bass, yelping vocals and thrashing rhythm, rockabilly has retained a loyal world-wide fan base over 50 years after it first offended adults and delighted teenagers looking for thrills.

The 100 tracks on this 4 CD essential collection include the crème de la crème of rockabilly classics by artists such as Link Wray, Charlie Feathers, Jerry Lee Lewis and Gene Vincent, as well as more obscure rocking gems which are much sought after by aficionados.

Includes an extensive essay about rockabilly by Max Décharné, author of A Rocket In My Pocket.

Awesome collection - I have 75 - 80% of titles or more but I had to go for it.
