This is a way better version of the 2006 2 CD best of from priest of the same name.

Here, the songs are in the proper chronological order and songs from recent albums are included.

If you are a comp fan or casual Priest fan this comp pretty much gets things right although nothing from the debut or the Ripper era is included.

Again, way better than the 2006 mess.

I own everything already. I have the first two albums from the Renaissance remasters which are stellar sounding.

Yep the track list makes more sense, hated that I hate to change discs to get to Living After Midnight.

Those sound better by far in the Complete Albums box set.

I didn't buy that box set since I own all the previous remasters (for good or for bad  ). But the first two albums weren't in that box set if I remember right. Or am I wrong? Never mind.

Anyway, I haven't heard that box set so I can't comment on the quality of Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings Of Destiny. I can say that the remasters I bought were great. I used to own the LP's back in my dinosaur days.

I listened to Redeemer of Souls again this week.

Very impressive album, although a few songs are too similar-sounding.

It is a damn good effort though. It's mastered way too loud, but as for the music Priest couldn't have done much better.

As for this comp, "Hot Rockin'", "Desert Plains" and "Locked In" should have made the cut and one song from each Ripper album.

The only time the Ripper era has been represented on a collection was the Metalogy box.

Isn't there some sort of software that "removes" bad mastering from CDs? I remember hearing something about that a while back.

I don't how on earth it would work, but there are a few CDs in recent years that like to try "un-brickwalling."

Smiff, on the other hands loves brickwalled, bright CDs.
