I knew about this months ago but was too disgusted to post it here. This is the ultimate milking of a man I deeply respect, Jimi Hendrix.
Jimi 'possibly' took his own life partly because of these tapes and now Experience Hendrix are trying to make money from them.
They were of a deep embrarassment to Jimi himself.

What happened to the supposed imminent release of the Royal Hall concert?

In large part, I believe that Experience Hendrix has earned my support. However, this release disappoints me. I wait for one, maybe two, major releases per year. I was hoping for something better. Maybe the September (Christmas) release will be something to get excited about. But that's a ways down the road...They're obviously getting close to the bottom of the barrel.

There is still a lot of great stuff left in the vaults, but they are still stuck putting out alternative versions of Purple Haze and Foxy Lady. They could release the uncut jams from Nine To The Universe. The Band of Gypsys studio rehearsals, the Alternate Axis Tapes, Royal Albert Hall and other live shows - they could redo Stages with the entire shows! To put this out is insulting to Jimi fans

What about the Black Gold tape? I remember reading Mitch Mitchell had a copy of it. Of the unreleased material out there - I was hoping to someday hear that - oh and of course the 67 shows from the Garrick where Jimi played with Zappa and the early Mothers - FZ claimed to have not recorded those - I hope someone did.

I'm keen for them to put out:

1. 1968 Electric Ladyland studio out-takes and alternative mixes (there are plenty)
2. Band Of Gypsys complete box set
3. The excellent sounding re-mixes of Are You Experienced in completed form done by Eddie Kramer
4. TTG studio sessions from October 1968 are also not fully issued and contain some incredible music
5. The Black Gold tapes
6. Albert Hall & Europe early 1969 (in legal limbo)!
7. Atlanta July 1970
8. Stockholm Jan 1969
9. The studio jams from 1969 (keep those Dagger CDs coming)
10. Cry Of Love sessions - the final studio sessions have been slightly covered, more is out there
11. MONO mixes of first 2 albums on CD
12. 5.1 mixes of classic songs please

You may call me a hypocrite but I actually brought this CD . I was dead set against it but my curiosity got the better.
It's not a Jimi Hendrix album to begin with. Jimi is a member of the Squires. His rhythm guitar is distinctive as is the few solos included. Overall it's one of those CDs I'll file away into the archives.
Sadly the booklet does not shed much light into the sessions which I was hoping would.
No Such Animal is the main stand out track here.
