Product Description
Much has been made of the prolific nature of Woody Allen's output as a writer/director of motion pictures - a remarkably enduring career that began with the release of "Take the Money and Run" in 1969 and includes 24 Academy Award nominations and 4 wins. What's equally impressive is that by the time Allen's career as a filmmaker was hitting its stride, he had already spent an entire decade from 1960-1970 as a highly successful stand-up comedian. Throughout the release of Woody Allen: The Stand-Up Years, we can take a look aback at when the legendary comic writer found his early voice and developed the character we came to know and love in some of the most celebrated films in history. This release is comprised of his three stand-up comedy albums, originally recorded and released between 1964 and 1968. Also included is an audience Q&A, which was left off previously released reissues of the original recordings. With performances that hold up today as well as they did decades ago, this is a must-have for his long-time fans, and the next generation who have just recently discovered their first Woody Allen film.

I'm guessing this is a repackaging of the UK 2-CD set The Nightclub Years 1964-1968, which I bought about 15 years ago. If it is and you've never heard this material, I highly recommend it. Hilarious from start to finish.

I wonder if it is. The UK set contains the classic "Moose Story" about shooting a moose which turns out to have been two people in costume. But the track listing for the Razor & Tie set does not include anything easily recognizable as that. And yet it's hard to imagine that there would be two different "1964-1968" compilations.

I believe that it does. If not, I'm just remembering it from the vinyl that I have.

I believe that all of these tracks (and more, including "The Moose") except for the Q&A can be found on Rhino's 1999 Woody Allen collection "Standup Comic."

Spoilers!!!!

I thought the same thing, though - nothing on here struck me as anything I remembered. Not to say I remember all his stuff.

BUMP: updated release date and track info.

Got a promo today. Per liner notes, this includes Allen's 3 stand-up albums in their entirety, as well as audio excerpts from "Woody Allen: A Documentary."

The moose is here!
