Product Description
If you don’t know Pugwash, we have two words: You should.

Their mix of The Beach Boys meets ELO meets XTC has made them favorites in not only their homeland of Ireland, but across the U.K. Everywhere else, the Pugwash fan base grows as listeners discover the group’s work with contributors like Andy Partridge and Dave Gregory of XTC, Jason Falkner (Jellyfish, TV Eyes), and The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon, to name but a few. Pugwash’s albums have thus far only been available outside of North America, and have now slipped out of print! They’ve become sought after—garnering top dollar in collector’s circles.

Omnivore Recordings is proud to remedy that with A Rose In A Garden Of Weeds: A Preamble Through The History Of Pugwash… 17 tracks drawn from 1999’s Almond Tea As Served By… through 2011’s The Olympus Sound (which was nominated for the Choice Music Prize, presented to the best album from Ireland.) Co-Produced by bandleader Thomas Walsh, A Rose In A Garden Of Weeds features tracks that define the Pugwash sound.

Housed in a digipak, with liner notes from Fountains Of Wayne’s Chris Collingwood, rare photos, and remembrances from collaborators.

Pugwash is booking dates for their first U.S. tour in conjunction with the release, so North American audiences will finally get to experience the band live!

A Rose In A Garden Of Weeds: A Preamble Through The History Of Pugwash… will finally allow this magical band to bloom around the world!

I heartily agree with the recommendation in the review! I first heard Pugwash on a morning show while spending some time in Northern Ireland a few years back.

"Almond Tea" was my holy grail disc and was very scarce even then but I managed to dig up a copy at Vibes-and-Scribes in Cork City my last week there.

Also check out the two CDs from "The Duckworth-Lewis Method" -- featuring Walsh from Pugwash and Neil Hannon from The Divine Comedy doing baroque pop songs all about cricket! As good as it is goofy!
