This is fantastic news!

Also, these are coming out BEFORE the Steeltown Deluxe which will be out in late September (odd).

Anyway, really pumped for these.

Keeping my fingers crossed about the sound quality, as I'm still holding out for versions of the first three which actually recognise that BC's big strength was the twin guitars, not the drums! If they'd been recorded in the 70's or 90's they'd be fine, but they're so full of 80's suckiness that it makes me wanna cry every time I go back and try 'em again.

Case in point? The first 40 seconds of the first album. Unlistenable.

Are you actually questioning the importance of Mark Brzezicki's drumming to the overall BC sound? And you hate the beginning of the first album (i.e. the drum intro to "In A Big Country")? I couldn't disagree more. Not only is Brzezicki one of the most impressive drummers of the last 3 decades but their music wouldn't have been nearly as powerful without his contributions. Perhaps it's the Steve Lillywhite echo-y production that turned you off. I love his work but I can understand why certain people think it's too much.

As for these reissues, even though I already own 95% of the bonus material (as well as the original albums in multiple formats) I will add them to my collection. The deluxe edition of The Crossing was excellent (both in sound quality & bonus content) so I have high hopes for these.

I'm disappointed that the Steeltown D/E was held back until September, but hopefully that means they're revamping the track listing which was very disappointing when it was first announced earlier this year.

The drums were just as important!

I hear no 80's suckiness in the least aside from perhaps Peace In Our Time's timid US-friendly mix.

I preordered all three from AmazWanUK today. It'll be nice to have so many of those b-sides in one place, and I'm hoping that the remastering here is better than the previous expanded remasters which were good but had some glitches.

OK, maybe that's a bit more fair, but I'm still going with the guitars as being at least 75% of what BC were all about. So I wanna hear them! Another example - Fields Of Fire. I'm sure there's a guy on there playing a great melody line but you have to listen real hard as it sounds like he's in the house 3 doors down the road and they've kept the windows and doors shut.

I wouldn't care so much if I didn't like this stuff so much, which is what makes it really frustrating.

I received my copies of the 2-CD editions of The Seer, Peace In Our Time and No Place Like Home from AmazWan UK today. Haven't had a chance to play them but I wanted to let everyone know that they're in 2-CD slimcases and not digipaks like the Deluxe Edition of The Crossing. Although I usually prefer jewel cases & slimcases, in this instance I was hoping for more deluxe-looking packages that would stand out on my shelves. Of course this is just a minor complaint as the content is very good and each booklet contains photos, new essays and most/all of the original packaging elements including lyrics (only for the album tracks, not the bonus material).

Hopefully the remastering is good too. I'll give them a listen sometime over the next couple of days.
