Not sure that'd be worth it even with a normal price.

Of course.

Probably be in the $16-$23 range.

This was THE album of my junior high school years and still one of my top 10 favorite albums of all time. I was so excited when I read the title of this thread... until I read the post. Then I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for something more along the lines of the 2011 deluxe edition of George Michael's Faith. While this does appear to have a nice selection of bonus material, it could have been so much better.

First off, they didn't include the three bonus tracks from the 2000 reissue of the album: Live versions of "Money Changes Everything," "She Bop" and "All Through The Night." I hate when new reissues don't carry over bonus material from previous releases!

Second, three 2013 remixes? Really? I know this is sort of a trend (see Michael Jackson: Thriller 25 and Bad 25) but it's just stupid and needs to stop. These take up space that could be used for material from the actual time period of the album.

Third, there are tons of original 12" mixes and tracks that could have been included to make it comprehensive. The "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" 12" (Portrait 4R9-04971) contained a 6:08 "Extended Version" as well as "Fun With V. Knutsn (Instrumental)" and "Xtra Fun." The "She Bop" 12" (Portrait 4R9-05011) contained a 6:16 "Special Dance Mix" (possibly the Arthur Baker Remix on disc 2, track 8) and an "Instrumental" version. There are probably others as well.

The glaring omission of b-side "Right Track Wrong Train" from the 2000 release is corrected here so that's good. The demos and rehearsals should be a fun listen too, although I am really surprised there aren't more outtakes from the album.

I would also argue that "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" and its b-side "What A Thrill" should have been included in this package as well. Although basically just a stop gap between She's So Unusual and True Colors, I still consider it part of the debut phase of Cyndi's career.

Now, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for an 30th anniversary edition of True Colors in 2016.

My thoughts exactly. I have a bunch of 12" singles (promo and commercial) related to this album. All those remixes should be on here, instead of 2013 ones.

Was the live version of "Money Changes Everything" on the previous reissue the same recording as the B-side of the original 45?

Ditto to everything Actorman said above. I have a lot of great memories surrounding this album and at one time this would have been an automatic purchase for me, but my days of impulse buying are long gone. There are already enough issues with this release that I'll have to proceed with caution, and we don't even know yet if they've done a good job on the sound quality. My attitude is a reluctant wait-and-see on this one.

Yep to all complaints.

This should be better, but still seems good.

2013 remixes? Who wants that shit????

I wonder if the rehearsal tracks are with The Hooters are other musicians.

And why delete the previous live cuts?

This is due out tomorrow. The Amazon priced has dropped, but it's still nearly $40. What the heck?

In a few years GaGa will have one just like that.

I've seen a one-CD version of this at Walmart. I think it's basically the same as Disc 1 of this set, as it's the album with a few new remixes tacked on. Same silly new cover art.
