Product Description
Foreigner achieved massive success on a global scale during the Seventies and Eighties thanks to a long list of hit singles and sold-out tours. Today, the group's sales exceed 80 million records, a figure that places Foreigner among the best-selling bands of all time. Their classic songs continue to resonate with fans in the modern era, having just recently received RIAA gold and platinum awards for digital sales on six of their iconic rock anthems.

Rhino celebrates the band's prolific tenure with Atlantic Records with a seven-disc collection that brings together Foreigner's first seven studio albums, as well as a number of bonus tracks.

Presented in a clamshell box, the collection retraces the group's history at Atlantic Records between 1977 and 1991 and features 80 tracks, including nine Top 10 hits. The set includes: Foreigner (1977), Double Vision (1978), Head Games (1979), 4 (1981), Agent Provocateur (1984), Inside Information (1987) and Unusual Heat (1991).

The remarkable number of instantly recognizable Top 40 hits included in this set is truly impressive and a reminder of why Foreigner has sold so many records: "Feels Like the First Time" and "Cold As Ice" from the band's 5x-platinum self-titled debut; "Hot Blooded" from the 6x-platinum Double Vision; "Dirty White Boy" from the 5x-platinum Head Games; "Waiting For A Girl Like You" and "Urgent" from the 6x-platinum 4; "I Want To Know What Love Is" from the 3x-platinum Agent Provocateur; and "Say You Will" and "I Don't Want To Live Without You" from the platinum Inside Information.

Beyond the studio albums, The Complete Atlantic Studio Albums 1977-1991 also features every bonus track from the 2002 deluxe editions of the band's first four albums. Among the many standouts are the demo of "Feels Like The First Time," a live version of "Hot Blooded," and a "nearly unplugged" version of "Waiting For A Girl Like You."

Has the later stuff like "Unusual Heat" been remastered?

That's my question.

I think Agent Provocateur was remastered with no bonus cuts but I do not have that or Inside Information on CD.

I do have Unusual Heat (and love that album-it's their heaviest), but if all of these are newly remastered I am in.

I doubt they are, or we will get the typical "no remastering credited" thing happening.

Only the first four albums (through, duh, 4) were remastered (with bonus cuts) during the last round of remasterings (2002). About 8 years prior to that (circa 1994) the first five albums (through Agent Provacateur) (1984) were remastered, no bonus cuts. Inside Information (1987) has never been remastered, at least domestically, nor has Unusual Heat (1991) the only Foreigner album with vocalist Johnny Edwards—a VERY underrated album.

Ironically, one of the reasons Lou Gramm left Foreigner the first time around (circa 1989) was because he disapproved of what he saw as an overemphasis of focus on ballads at the expense of hard rock. I remember the Rolling Stone **** album review of Unusual Heat in the summer of 1991 and the opening sentence read something like "From the first note, Foreigner wants you to know there ain't nothing soft about its new songs" and it was true—the pulsing synths of the last 3 albums were mostly banished and Mick Jones played his heart out on the guitar. A combination of grunge taking over the market and the band re-emerging after a long layoff with a relatively unknown vocalist....the album didn't crack the Billboard Top 100 and both bassist Rick Wills and drummer Dennis Elliott abandoned ship soon after. Gramm rejoined in 1992 but the band never was a commercial force again, although they did a lot of touring on the classic rock circuit.

Unusual Heat has love from the fanbase.

It is a killer Hard Rock album and Johnny Edwards was a very good signer.

Terry Thomas, who had produced the Brian Howe-era bad Company albums knew how to produce an album like this.

Many fans at the time refused to accept a Foreigner without Lou Gramm which I get, but this is a strong album. Lou would've been great on it.

I hope these are all newly remastered but I highly doubt it.

The British pre-order price just dropped by about £10, and now stands at £16.27:
