Musictap is reporting that this album will be getting a reissue.

Whether this a remaster (it needs it), or just a reissue remains to be seen.

I vaguely remember the cassette (and maybe the vinyl?) having extra tracks. I do know, the album was not a representation of all the songs played on tour.

When I saw them in Philly in Sept. 1987, they opened with all of "Echoes" but it only lasted 11 shows. That would be wonderful to include but it won't happen.

The original cassette and CD releases both included "Us and Them".

Meh for a CD reissue, though... I would be significantly more interested in an official DVD (and/or Blu-ray) release of In Concert: Delicate Sound of Thunder.

Could be a combo or uber Deluxe with the first DVD release finally? (That show was also heavily edited and removed a lot of songs).

I want the CD upgraded-the sound was sterile and the audience was barely a blip.

But is that a result of the original mastering or the way the album was recorded and mixed?

Only the inclusion of Echoes would make this reissue worth buying.

They fixed the same issue on Sabbath's Live Evil, so it can be done during remastering.

The only thing? Not to me.

There's a ton of songs they played on that tour missing, plus if the DVD is included that would be long overdue and really cool.

I haven't ever owned this on CD, so it will be a purchase for me regardless although Pulse is a way better live album.

I don't think EMI has anything to do with Floyd anymore (Warner now, I believe). AmazonUS does have a listing for a DSOT under Rhino/Parlophone--it's been there since late last year with still no release date on the page, but is available for pre-order.

And where does musicTAP get their info? Just curious, is all. I'm not too familiar with them. A member at the Steve Hoffman forums informed me a couple months back that this would only be a reprint, and nothing more. Then again, he also told me February was likely, and that isn't the case now.

As for the DSOT film making it to Blu, it won't happen. At least, not in Gilmour & co's lifetime. Gilmour has especially expressed distaste towards the concert.

Here's a link to the barebones listing page which NFAN mentioned:

:agree:

Before seeing them in '87 I had read that "Echoes" was part of the set list, but they didn't play it at Madison Square Garden. I read years later that Gilmour felt strange singing the song, so they only did it at a handful of early shows on that tour. So glad he dusted it off for his recent solo tours.

I can't believe that it's 8 years since that tour. Those were great shows.

I stated that this might just be a reissue from the very start.

At no point did I say Musictap said this would be a remaster.

I never implied that you said that Musictap said it was a remaster. I just asked where Musictap gets their release info.

They've been a valuable site for many years.

Probably just like we do, they find things from various sources. They may have some conatcts at labels.

They always mention IMWAN if they use something from us which other sites do not.

I concur with IP re: Musictap--it's been around for years & I've found it reliable...certainly more so than a member of the Steve Hoffman forum.

This listing page has gone live now, and the reissue can be pre-ordered. No details about the release are up yet, though.

I remember when they played in Tampa for the "Delicate Sound of Thunder" tour, they did a sound check the afternoon before the show (documented in a very good boot by the way titled "Just Warm'in Up" (The Rehearsals in Tampa)) at the Tampa Stadium, May 6th 1994.

My place of employment was nearly right across the street and I can remember leaving my desk (quite often my I add) to join the smokers outside (hard to explain to mgmt. why I took so many (and long) smoke breaks when I was not a smoker) that day but I remember how clear you can hear Gilmore's guitar and the band. I knew I was in for great show later that evening and this preview was killer appetizer.

One of the best shows I ever saw, played at the Tampa Stadium that evening and one never to forget.

I think you're confusing Delicate Sound Of Thunder with Division Bell, because the 1994 tour was in support of the latter.

You are right Chris, had kind of a sleepless night last night so my 4:00am posting(s) are not the best fact checked postings.

I know what you mean. I did see Floyd on tour in 1988 when they were supporting Amused To Death.
