3CD Set in round box remastered vintage live recordings of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. Earlier this year the current incarnation of Fleetwood Mac embarked on a massive world tour. Dates in North America are being followed by gigs around Europe, Australia and New Zealand. These dates will see the band playing sold-out shows to huge arena crowds and are sure to create another surge of interest in this much-loved band. Boston is a 3CD set which collects live recordings from an earlier era of the band's colourful history. The set features the classic blues line-up of Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, John McVie and Jeremy Spencer. Originally recorded at the Boston Tea Party venue over three nights in February 1970, for a planned release later the same year, these recordings were left in the can, unissued, following leader Peter Green's sudden decision to leave the band a few weeks after the dates. Tracks from the shows were eventually released in various forms in the mid-80s but these releases were blighted by poor sound sources. The discovery of the original 8-track tapes and a number of previously unreleased tracks in the late 90s allowed the material to be re-mixed, re-mastered, and substantially overhauled for release on 3 separate CD volumes. This new set brings together all of these re-mastered recordings a 3CD set to present a complete document of these historic shows.

There are as many Euro "pd" reissues of this as there are of Beatles with Tony Sheridan & Crosby & Nash Wind On The Water

I recall buying these as 3 individual CDs from the import section of the formerly great Virgin mega store in Times Square in the 1990s. What a thrill. These are really some kick ass live CDs from the band.

Has any one heard this release and if so, is it a audio upgrade over the previous release of these shows?

I've merged your question into the pre-existing thread for this release. If you follow the links in the first post to either Amazon UK or Amazon USA, you'll see a few reviewers at both sites who praise the upgraded audio of this new version, but also dislike the packaging.

I bought this on amazon last week. I agree about the packaging, which is about as convenient as those Prince releases in round boxes which you can't store anywhere conveniently. I've yet to break the plastic on it though, so can't comment on sound quality. Never had it before either so can't compare to prior versions.

Another edition of this title is being issued by Snapper on April 7th (April 15th in the USA). It lists 3 CDs but no other information. Based on the plain image with no fancy packaging shown, I'm guessing that this will be a "non-deluxe" version of the above with the same musical contents:

This has been released by more dicey companies than Crosby & Nash's Wind Of The Water, & that's saying a lot!

the Snapper versions that came out in the 90's were hdcd encoded. i doubt that the newer ones would sound any better

The third disc is still going for crazy prices on the used market, it was pretty scarce (outside of this set)

Yes, it's being reissued in square packaging that won't roll of your shelf!

Where's the fun in that? This is one release I can find in the dark. If the light has been on long enough The Band Academy Of Music is the other.

This will be issued in a clamshell mini-box configuration.
