Product Description
Lynyrd Skynyrd are more than just a rock band. Hailing from the swamps of Florida their music is a gritty mix of rock, blues and country, washed down with a liberal slug of bourbon. In one form or another Skynyrd have existed for almost half a century. ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, ‘Simple Man’, ‘Gimme Three Steps’ and the immortal ‘Free Bird’ are among the most famous rock songs ever recorded. This anthology reveals the reasons why.

1. Sweet Home Alabama
2. Gimme Three Steps
3. That Smell
4. What's Your Name
5. Tuesday's Gone
6. Workin' For MCA
7. Gimme Back My Bullets
8. Whiskey Rock-A-Roller
9. Swamp Music
10. Double Trouble
11. I Know A Little
12. I Never Dreamed
13. Simple Man
14. Saturday Night Special
15. Comin' Home
16. Free Bird

The Essential Lynyrd Skynyrd (reissued as Gold) is the definitive 'best of' by these guys.

I still have a laugh when someone yells out "play Free Bird" at a Nirvana concert and Kurt actually has a go at it for a bit.
There are still good 'ol boys who yell out Free Bird at the odd concert.
Bless 'em

I saw somebody do it at an Opeth show. Mikael Akerfeldt said, "What's 'Freebird'?" The guy must have laughed or something, and Mikael said, "No, seriously dude - what's 'Freebird'?" Then for about 45 somewhat uncomfortable seconds, this guy apparently started to explain, and Mikael finally said, "Dude, I know what 'Freebird' is. Wouldn't you just shit if we played it now?"
