The son of a Hollywood film composer and singer Marni Nixon, multi-instrumentalist Andrew Gold was Linda Ronstadt’s musical director from 1973 to 1977 before his songwriting talent was recognised and he signed to David Geffen’s Asylum Records. These four albums produced worldwide hits, with songs like “Lonely Boy”, “Never Let Her Slip Away” and “Thank You For Being A Friend” remaining radio favourites to this day. This special digipak edition also includes an amazing twenty bonus tracks, dating from 1975 to 1980. The booklet contains annotation by Alan Robinson.

bonus tracks????

The previous release of these titles, at least the first three (I don't have "Whirlwind") had a number of bonus tracks so like Renny, I'm curious as to whether or not those will also be included.

Hmmm...my guess is that the bonus tracks are gone on this reissue. With the bonus tracks, the albums have the following lengths...

I don't know what Whirlwind clocks in at, but there's no way all of this gets onto two CDs with the bonus tracks. If there are any bonus tracks, it won't be many.

I have the Collectors' Choice issue of all four, and will skip this.

gold's albums after these first four are all very good, and very unheard, and very hard to get!

I checked with Andrew Gold's widow, Leslie and she was unaware of the reissue. She is going to look into it and get back to me. When I find out the details, I will post it up.

I just ordered from Amazon UK. July 8 release. Amazon page says 11.99 pounds but when pre-ordered, dropped to 9.99. Would be interesting to see what Leslie finds out. Did the Golds own the rights to the first 4 albums? Still saddens me just thinking about it. Thanks to the OP for the heads up.

Hi, Leslie Gold here. I asked Rhino to ID the tracks. They have to ask the UK as this was apparently issued over there, but they are checking. (or licensed to a 3rd party for release).
The bonus tracks are pretty much from his live ROXY show in the seventies. They are other tracks. I found them while going through the music. I will research how to get the rest of them released. I would love a vinyl product.

and, while you are at it, how about getting some of his later albums a little notoriety, maybe get amazon to sell them or get them on itunes (spotify has all of them as far as i know). his "copy cat" album is very very good.

Deserves a place in anyones collection and for that price excellent value.

Amazon just delayed shipping (per their supplier) to August 05 2013 - August 09 2013.

Amazon has added the dreaded "Currently unavailable--we don't know when or if this item will be back in stock" notation....

The fact that it still doesn't show a cover image, and still doesn't appear at Edsel's own website, probably means that Amazon will be notified of a new, later release date soon.
