I can't imagine rarities sold a lot, let alone a set like this

Looks like 14 disc boxset..which matches his studio album output for Warner / Atlantic 1975-2001
I was hoping Warner would be a bit more imaginative in the wake Universals success with "Rarities"
was 'rarities" that successful?
In saying Rarities was successful, I am comparing it with other "vault" stuff like Sessions.
Whilst Sessions or its offshoot single disc comp hardly troubled the Top 1000, Rarities looks like charting both sides of the Atlantic (on some days on Amazon UK it has been Top 3 ahead of release today).
Re the remastering of the studio albums - the team that did Sessions etc did not remaster the entire Warner catalogue - just the stuff the planned to release on comps or deluxe editions (and only 5 of the 14 studio albums were being deluxed).
Incidentally, 14 must exclude Once in a Blue Moon (because it was unreleased originally) or Human (because it was actually on Atlantic)
