I don't have a link, just a post from the official Who Facebook page that I'll transcribe:
Quote:
Tommy Super Deluxe Edition
* Original Studio Album
* Complete disc of unreleased demos and outtakes
* Complete disc of unreleased 1969 tour recordings
* Entire album in 5.1 for the first time

I'm definitely in for anything with The Who. but the deluxe version from several years ago already had a complete disc of demos and outtakes. We've already got Leeds, Hull, Isle of Wight and Woodstock for performances from that era. So unless the demos and outtakes and the live stuff is different from what's already out there, I'll have to pass. It would be nice to have a complete disc of all of Pete's demos and another disc of outtakes. Sigh.

Surely it will be included as a special vinyl "bonus disc" with the new Super Deluxe Edition... $$$

I'm good with the Japan SACD of Tommy. I like the Who (60's & early 70's); but really have little interest after Tommy. To me, other than Who's Next & Live at Leeds they are an ok singles band & that's about it for me. I know many here will disagree with that statement! Endless Wire was a downright embarrassment that sounded like a bad demo to me.

The album has been in 5.1 for a decade now. My deluxe edition from ten years ago is a SACD hybrid with a full 5.1 mix.

I'm good, thanks.

“TOMMY” BY THE WHO

SUPER DELUXE BOXSET and DELUXE EDITION

Remastered with 20 UNRELEASED DEMOS, A FULL UNRELEASED LIVE VERSION OF TOMMY and HI FIDELITY 5.1 MIX

Released November 11th 2013

August 28, 2013 – Tommy, The Who’s defining, breakthrough concept album – a full-blown rock opera about a deaf, dumb and blind boy that launched the band to international superstardom is to be released in Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions this Autumn.

Originally released in May 1969, The Who were at a career crossroads, known mainly as a singles band, but this project launched them as a serious ‘albums band’ and it has now sold over 20 million copies as well as regularly turning up in lists of the most influential albums of all time.

Coming after The Who Sell Out in 1967, it marked a complete change in style with Pete Townshend’s lengthy conceptual narrative bringing exciting new opportunities to rock music. Tommy was and remains to be an ambitious, complex and controversial work, which was initially banned by the BBC.

This new Deluxe and Super Deluxe version of the album comes with a wealth of previously unheard material in the form of 20 demos from Pete Townshend’s archive and also a full live performance of Tommy from 1969 taken from tapes that infamously Townshend asked the band’s sound engineer to burn!

18 of the previously unheard and thought to be long lost live tracks are taken from a live show at the Capital Theatre, Ottawa, Canada on October the 15th 1969. Three others, I’m Free, Tommy’s Holiday Camp and We’re Not Gonna Take It were lost due to tape reels being changed during the show so are taken from later shows of the same era

As discussed at length in Pete Townshend’s autobiography the tapes were all supposed to be destroyed but were kept by long time Who sound man Bob Pridden despite Pete’s instructions.

The Super Deluxe box also features a 5.1 mix featuring the complete album remixed in surround sound on new Hi Fidelity Pure Audio Blu-ray format

As well as the music the limited edition Super Deluxe boxset comes with a hardback 80-page full-colour book featuring rare period photos, memorabilia, a 20,000-word essay by legendary Who aficionado Richard Barnes and a rare facsimile Tommy poster housed in a hard-back deluxe slip-case.

I've always disliked Tommy for the most part (I think I explained why on my Who albums thread) and still don't own a copy, but now I can garb the 2 CD version and be done with it.

I'm a Who nut and I don't like Tommy. I think that makes me very odd.

I'm with you Pete. I love the Who, and I think their early 70s material is some of the finest r&r ever recorded. But aside from the few hits and pieces that were cannibalized on Live At Leeds, I find this unlistenable.

I like the film though. Ann Margaret was smokin'!

I'll certainly be interested to hear what folks think about this one — particularly discs 2 and 3 — and will make a decision about ordering the Super-Deluxe Edition at that time. Can't imagine needing the one- or two-disc versions. It'll be all or nothing for me here.

I realize it was written and recorded a couple of decades later, but I can't help thinking that Townshend's demo for "I Believe My Own Eyes," the ballad sung by Tommy's parents and only new song in the 1993 stage show, would have been a nice — and appropriate in some ways — end-of-disc bonus for the "Demos & Extras" collection. Townshend won a Tony that year for Best Original Score, after all, and AFAIK, that demo is only available in a CD single housed inside a pasted-in-pocket of the hardcover book issued to coincide with the show.

Blu-ray 5.1 mix? Mmmmm that's a selling point for me. I didn't really like the SACD 5.1 mix totally but it was very good in spots (thought Pinball Wizard was off though). Wonder if this is a different take or just that mix redone on Blu?

Anyway I am a sucker for anything Who.

If you remember the film "Almost Famous" and when his sister said to her brother and I'm paraphrasing "Play side 2 , the Underture from Tommy, it will change your life". Well that kid was me.

"Tommy" was the first Who album I ever heard (and purchased) and I was hooked for a lifetime. I love collector sets and I will add this to the collection. Would love to hear a 5.1 mix on Blu-Ray AND very interested in the live disc from that time.

The new editions of Tommy are now starting to be listed by Amazon. See the first post for all available links. (As I type this, only the UK pressings are pre-orderable, but the Amazon USA listings should be going live soon.)

Here's a closer look at the Super Deluxe Edition packaging:

My prediction is (you heard it here first) is the next 5.1 Blu-ray version which will be remastered by Steven Wilson,
who obviously was too busy to schedule this one this time 'round....
