The Japanese versions of these — "Lighthouse" especially, since that one has never been issued here — used to sell for a fortune on eBay. No bonus tracks here, so I'll be sticking with what I have — "Lighthouse" from Japan and the 2001 One Way reissue of "Barking," which adds "I Am A Camera," "Make No Mistake, He's Mine (Solo Vocal Version)" and "Forever."

But if you don't already have these, as well as the other KC albums that Culture Factory reissued last year, this is a good way to pick them up at a reasonable price.

Does anyone know why One Way's release of Kim's "Barking At Airplanes" CD didn't include the 12" mix of "Crazy in the Night"? There was room. So I wonder if no one knew about it at the label (to request it) or if the master tape was lost. Does anyone know what happened? I hope it turns up somewhere on CD someday. Too bad these new Kim releases have no bonus cuts. This would have been the place to include it.

I'm not sure why the 12" of "Crazy In The Night" was not included on the One Way reissue (or the "Dub Mix", for that matter). Fortunately, Fun With Vinyl (http://www.funwithvinyl.com) has posted a nice FLAC transfer from vinyl. Also missing from the "Barking In Airplanes" reissue on One Way were the 12" "Dance" and "Red" mixes of "Abadabadango".

I didn't even know there were 12" mixes of Abadabadango. I'll have to look out for those. Are there any websites that focus on listing all 12" versions released? That sure would help me fill in lots of gaps for things I don't even know about.

Discogs (http://www.discogs.com) is quite comprehensive. I actually found out about the 12" of "Abadabadango" from an Amazon.com review of the 2001 One Way Records reissue: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005NNP8/?tag=imwan-20 The reviewer mentioned the exclusion of those notable 12" mixes. If you are interested in the One Way release, it's fetching over $300 for a new copy currently! Crazy, indeed!

Hey you Kim Carnes fans: has the 45 version of "Invitation to Dance" ever shown up on CD? I think one of the One Way reissues had an extended remix as a bonus track.

KC desperately needs a concise and comprehensive 2CD rightly-remastered anthology!

"Sailin'" was issued on CD in Brazil via A&M/Polygram in the late 1990s, Patrick. Catalog #394606-2 and Barcode #082839460620. A&M/Polygram in the EU also issued a CD called "Master Series" in 1999 that contains all 10 of the tracks from "Sailin'" plus eight of the 11 tracks from the first A&M LP. The MIA tracks are "Hang On to Your Airplane (Honeymoon), "What Good Is Love (Later on the Equator)" and "Good Old Days." To my knowledge, those three still await their CD debut.

And Jimbo, the single version of "Invitation to Dance" is also included on a 2000 comp from the Netherlands called "The Divine Kim Carnes."

Interesting. I just looked at it in Goldwave, and it doesn't look heavily clipped to me. Yeah, there is some clipping going on, but it's not major, at least to my eyes. Maybe it's because I'm used to seeing a lot of heavy clipping in most music files that I view. Regardless, I still love the transfer. I think that it sounds excellent, considering that it is sourced from vinyl.

Culture Factory also released Kim Carnes' Voyeur CD, but on the previous CD release of this album - on One Way Records - the song "Breakin' Away From Sanity" had a loud noise at 1:56 (a glitch) that is not on the vinyl. If anyone has the Culture Factory reissue, can they report back here whether or not this loud noise is there? It wouldn't be on the master tape - but then, Culture Factory could have just used the One Way CDs as their source and not ask EMI to pull the tapes for remastering.

Bump: Lighthouse and Barking At Airplanes have been pushed all the way back to August 13th.
