These seem to be straight reissues, but in September Atlantic will be reissuing both the Buffalo Springfield and the Crosby, Stills & Nash box sets in England. The Springfield set release date is 9/9/13 (list price on Amazon.com.uk of 15.60 pounds), with the CSN box set going out on 9/30/13 for 18 pounds. I'm looking forward to the Springfield set as I missed it the first time around. Seems odd that it wasn't reissued back in 2011 to capitalize on the reunion tour, but where Neil Young's involved, you have to figure that something odd will happen. The CSN set was one of the first box sets I bought, way back in the early '90s. It's worth having, if you don't already own a copy.

PES, you will love the Springfield set. I have it and it's remastered in HDCD. Glad to have it and also happy to see it be released for others to get it.

agree with the above kudos, but..................
a couple of complaints
1 - leaving songs off of the springfield box was/is unforgivable, no excuses, unforgivable, you gave us a 4CD box set out of 3 studio albums that don't even equal 100 minutes, put everything on there, i mean everything.
2 - leaving the long version of "bluebird off of the springfield box i;: in a way, forgivable, because after all it is their box set, but it got so much airplay back in the day it really should be on there.
the CSN box:
1 - nash even admits that "war games" should have been on there (stills made up for by putting it on his box)
2 - the "carry on" re-mix should have been on there
3 - "chuck's lament" and "how have you been" should have been on there.
enough, now go out and get both if you don't have them.

Man, we need to get CSNY to hire Renny for future comps and reissues. He knows his stuff.

Agree with Renny on all; still love the boxes especially the CSN.

I believe the reason the Buffalo Springfield box set did not include Last Time Around was that NY did not feel that it was a real Springfield album, but instead was sort of an Odds & Sods type collection and thus not part of the story. 10+ years on (sigh) and I still feel the CSN box set is pretty great. The inclusion of Homeward Through The Haze let me think that it might be possible to patch together a pseudo mid-70s CSNY record by cherry picking official releases. What with other box sets, etc. I think I may have gotten up to 5-6 songs. Oh well, it passed the time at the time.

CSNY '74 pushed it over the end - young's westwood one CD through my sails - young's zuma long may you run - young's decade black coral - stills box set homeward through the haze - CSN box lee shore - CSN box see the changes - CSN box taken at all - CSN box only love can break your heart - young's archives tell me why - young's archives jay, help me out if i missed any

I'd love to have the CSN set but that Buffalo Springfield box has too many issues for me. Doesn't it even repeat some material?

I fortunately got the Buff Sp box from the only BMG Club for pennies.

Doesn't it even repeat some material? the first album is on there twice. stereo and mono. and there are songs missing, that is what bugs me about it. i love the unreleased stuff, but it easily could have had every song, including the long "bluebird" and the unreleased stuff and probably a live show. i blame the eliot roberts/neil young camp. one thing i learned, neil young is not always to blame (although he has earned his fair shore over the years) , eliot roberts stops a lot of things before they even get to neil young.

I thought it was Stills who didn't want the long Bluebird released?

I thought neither Stills nor Young liked the long version of "Bluebird."

I've listened to that long version of "Bluebird" a couple of times in the last few days and it cooks. There's no reason they couldn't have put both it and the "official" version on the boxed set.

If you have a turntable, look for the 2 LP set of Buff Spring Best Of. Only official release.

I thought the extended version was always unreleased due to Still's decision. Thanks my friend. And yeah, of course I have a turntable. You should see the how many LPs I still have. Rick A.

Bump: Rhino UK will also be reissuing The Last Waltz and Woodstock 40 Years On boxes on September 9th, and I've added links for those two sets to the first post.
