This year marks the 35th anniversary of Bob Marley & The Wailers' now classic, 1978 release, Kaya. To celebrate, on April 23, 2013, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) will release Kaya: 35th Anniversary Deluxe Edition (Island/Tuff Gong/UMe), an expanded, two-CD collection featuring 24 tracks, all completely remastered to the highest modern standards.

Included in addition to the original 10-song release is the B-side "Smile Jamaica," plus a second disc featuring the highly sought-after, unreleased live show, "Live at Ahoy Hallen," recorded in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on July 7, 1978. Packaged with the original artwork, Kaya: 35th Anniversary Deluxe Edition will come with a 23-page booklet that includes lyrics, rare photos, plus extensive liner notes.

I might have to pass on this. I have enough live Marley with the other deluxe editions.

This is one of my favorite Marley albums.....I'm definitely buying it.

I'm am excited about this because it gives me hope that they may do a deluxe edition of Survival. There is supposedly a fair amount of outtakes from those sessions so possibly they would do a second disc of those (similar to what they did with Catch a Fire) instead of a live show. I like the live stuff they have been doing with these (funny that they have never done a deluxe 'Live"), but I would prefer outtakes/demo versions. Either way, I have bought them all.

I'm glad I got it....as I stated above, it's one of my favorite Marley albums......but the live disc is average quality (good concert though).

If you're on the fence about getting it and already have a few CD versions of Kaya, you can probably skip it.

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago. I like it a lot.

The mastering on the album proper is horrible - tons of unnatural bass...Kevin Reeves strikes again. And the sound quality of the live album is bootleg-grade. I've actually heard BETTER bootleg sound quality than this.

This is the bottom-of-the-barrel for Deluxe Edition releases, IMO.

Well, maybe I'll just get the remaster then. I've been considering delving into Marley's catalog since watching the documentary.
