Shout! Factory will be releasing The Warner Brothers Years featuring Steve Earle. This 4CD/1DVD Box will gather Train A Comin’ (1995), I Feel Alright (1996), and El Corazón (1997), as well as a previously unreleased live set, Live at the Polk Theater (1995). In addition, the included DVD is To Hell And Back: Live at Cold Creek Correctional Facility (1996), an Earle concert filmed at the facility in Tennessee. The booklet will be 40 pages thick with photos, an essay, and liner notes from Earle. The Warner Brothers Years is slated for release on June 25.

Hmmm....I love these records. This will be a tough call for me. I would essentially be paying $50 for a live album and a live DVD.

I just don't understand releases like this. If you're enough of an Earle fan to want this, then you almost certainly have the previously released CDs. So, why not release the unreleased items in such a way that we can buy them without buying what we already own?

I'd love to have the live CD and the DVD. But at that price, no way.

If it gets down to $40, I'll buy it and sell the CDs.

I agree with Smiff's assessment. All three are outstanding albums. When people have asked for Steve Earle recommendations in the past, I've always suggested Train A Comin' and I Feel Alright. They're two nearly perfect albums. Depending on your tolerance for traditional country, his first two albums are equally as great. The period in between is hit & miss for me.

i sometimes find there to be 3 different steve earle incarnations:

1 - the country earle - straight ahead country music, no frills

2 - the folk earle - very acoustic w a little country twist to it.

3 - the rock earle - good old rock and roll played very well, usually my favorite earle, but all three can be very good.
