If true - this just might be the best release of 2009!

Because Jimbo doesn't have enough Rolling Stones CDs in his collection. He was just telling me this the other day on a phone conversation. :ohyes:

Exciting news! However, I thought that Abkco Records owned the rights to 'Get Your Ya-Yas Out' (it was the last album they released on the label before setting up Rolling Stones Records) so I'm surprised to hear that this upcoming version of 'Ya Yas' is coming from Universal. Will keep my fingers crossed for this one. :yay:

How could the entire show plus supporting acts be released with only 5 bonus tracks?

Why do we have to have an extra EP? Can't they just add the tracks on to the CD? Sigh. Anyway, if this is true this will be very cool indeed.
Jimbo:
Did you get the latest remasters? I'm curious on your thoughts. The latest batch (1978- ) sound really good to me.

BTW, I should have mentioned I pulled that from IORR.org.
And yes, it does seem odd that it would come from Universal since this was origianaly an ABKCO release

At some point last year it was announced that Universal had somehow acquired the rights to the Stones entire catalog--both the ABKCO stuff and the CBS/Virgin stuff. A bunch of the CBS/Virgin stuff was recently remastered and re-released, but this will be the first ABKCO upgrade--and the first to (apparently) contain previously unreleased music (although I'm guessing that some of this will probably be song originally heard on the "Gimme Shelter" soundtrack--"I'm Free", "Gimme Shelter", etc.)

Maybe that would explain the fact that only 5 tracks are technically unreleased?

Didn't know that Universal now has the right to the entire Stones catalog. Very cool news! Hopefully the deluxe edtion of "Ya-Yas" is just the beginning and that other Stones albums from the '60s will be reissued with bonus tracks.

Any more details on the deluxe edition of "Exile On Main Street"? Sometimes with these rumored upgrades, I shouldn't believe them until I see them.

Remember when the Stones remasters were first announced? Everyone was saying they were all going to be deluxe editions.

Riiiight.

Hey, I predicted a single-disc, career-spanning, Wal-mart-friendly, best-of comp. I'm sticking to that prediction...

Frankly, I'm glad the Stones didn't go the bonus track route with the recent remasters, because Lord knows I probably would have shelled out twelve bucks for "Black And Blue" with an alternate take of "Cherry Oh Baby" or a "Hey Negrita" rehearsal or other such nonsense.

As far as the Stones bootlegs I've heard, the stuff I'd like to see released is the BBC recordings they did back in the 60's. They're about the only band left who haven't put together such a package.

Has there ever been a group called The Ya-Ya's? Sounds like a no-brainer.

I kept hearing The Ting Tings in Vegas. "Thats Not My Name" everywhere. I heard it when I slept. :)

ABKCO records is currently distributed by Universal, which makes the prospect of this happening more likely. Nevertheless, I'll be pleasantly surprised and shocked if this ever sees the light of day...

Btw, Allen Klein passed away from Alzheimer's disease on July 4.
