CD Description
Special Limited Deluxe Collector s Edition / Fully remastered sound shaped from 24 BIT digital technology. / 7 Bonus tracks / Features Fast Eddie Clarke (Motorhead) and Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie) / 16 page full colour booklet 3,500 word essay, enhanced artwork, memorabilia, rare photos and new interview with Fast Eddie Clarke. In 1982, when guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke unexpectedly quit Motorhead few would have banked on him returning to the recording scene in a blaze of glory. Fewer still would have predicted him notching up a gold album in North America with the debut album from his new band. Fastway was originally formed by Fast Eddie and former UFO bassist Pete Way. Men out on the prowl looking to start a new and improved musical unit that would fuse traditional British hard rock (think Zeppelin, Humble Pie, the Who) with the energy and enthusiasm of the NWOBHM. Sadly Pete Way s tenure was short-lived leaving Fast Eddie to write and record the album with a session bassist, drummer Jerry Shirley (from Humble Pie) and then unknown Irish vocalist David King. Issued in 1983 and produced by veteran studio wizard Eddie Kramer (Zeppelin, Hendrix, Kiss) Fastway cut an impressive form in a world obsessed with glam rock and thrash metal. Embracing traditional values and emitting a sense of rough-hewn charm, Fastway s music was big on riffs with clever use of melody and songs that packed a punch. In America the record found an enthusiastic home, helping to propel it into the Billboard top 30 charts attaining gold status. Features the singles Say What You Will , together with Easy Livin , and All I need Is Your Love.

Yes! One of the greatest Hard Rock albums of the 80s, the debut from Fastway brings back many fond memories for me from the summer of 1983. MTV used to play the hell out of "Say What You Will" and my band used to cover it in high school. Fans of Led Zep and Bad Co. would be very pleased with this mini-supergroup. I still have my vinyl copy with the 45 included, and I saw them open for Iron Maiden that August at the Spectrum in Philly (w/ Coney Hatch on the bill as well). We had 8th row seats on the floor (for $9.50!) and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. 3 great bands. I have been waiting for a proper remaster of this album for an eternity, and having all the bonus tracks makes it a no-brainer! Shame the band could never follow the debut up with anything good (All Fired Up was OK), but this one was a gem. The price at AmazonUK is really low for right now, so if anyone else is interested, I'd hop on.
