Weird pick for an EJ gold release. It had a couple of hits on it, but is a spotty album.

Then again, most of the major EJ titles from the classic era have been issued on gold disc and this makes a better choice than Caribou, to be sure.

Then again, Captain Fantastic had never been given the gold treatment, so why they skipped over that one is beyond me.

The situation remains confusing for the two hybrid SACDs that Audio Fidelity had originally promised for the end of 2012. Amazon must be getting screwy release info from AF, because now the listing for what had been Rush's Counterparts has changed to Yes' Close To The Edge, and has been rescheduled for January 8th ...

... but meanwhile, the old listing for Close To The Edge has gone dormant and can't currently be pre-ordered, but the details have changed to Rush's Counterparts. Yeesh!

The Yes disc is probably safe to pre-order from the link above, but collectors who previously placed pre-orders for Yes and/or Rush might want to stand pat for the time being. We need to wait and see how this all shakes out.

I'm curious to hear a hi-res CTTE, although not having a surround track is a bit of a downer. I may wait until I've heard some reviews online, just to see if Hoffman can work his magic on SACD.

I realy plan to grab it & hope like heck I'm not disappointed. Since I no longer have the Jap vinyl or MFSL vinyl common sense says it's just about got to be the best version I'll have.

The Yes SACD above has now been reduced further to $22.56.

Also, the gold CD remaster of Scorpions' Virgin Killer, originally slated for release last year, has appeared on the schedule for January 22nd. Amazon has a cover image up so I think it's really going to come out this time:

Let's see...artists most likely to get the AF gold CD treatment in 2013: The Thompson Twins, John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, Warrant, Taco, and/or Berlin.

Me, too, Geff; I'd especially go for an AF "Love Life," but wouldn't hesitate to get "Pleasure Victim" and "Count Three & Pray," too. "Love Life" would alternately be a great one for a deluxe/legacy-type expansion that could include, at minimum, the seven tracks from the Japanese "Dancing In Berlin" EP. "Love Life" is one of my very favorite LPs of the '80s.

Updates -- now all of the discs are showing as January 22nd releases at Amazon. The Yes Close To The Edge SACD has been pushed back again, and the Rush Counterparts SACD has reappeared after a few weeks in limbo:

Not surprised their SACDs keep getting pushed back..
Always thought their initial announcement stating they'd be available at the end of December was incredibly optimistic.

Bump: The Yes and Rush SACDs have been pushed back again, this time to Feburary 19th. The Elton John and Scorpions gold CDs remain on schedule for January 22nd.

At least they're using the USA "G" rated cover! A case could be made that the original German cover art could be considered child porn. (Similar to the original Blind Faith cover art, but a younger child & shows the front of the lower body also).
