Just got an email alert from a Kinks site that mentioned this info on The Kinks facebook site, actually buried in a sub page about a new Kinks kompetition: https://www.facebook.com/TheKinksOffici ... 1350439587As one of the most influential rock acts of the 1960's and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Kinks are releasing 'The Kinks Live at the BBC' box set, which features a raft of sessions, live recordings and unreleased recordings from throughout the band's career. They are also releasing the 44-track 'Waterloo Sunset: The Very Best Of The Kinks & Ray Davies’ celebrating the band's six decade career in the music industry. In celebration of these releases, they are inviting musicians around the world to submit an interpretation of a track from The Kinks' catalogue of albums that expresses the musician's creativity and originality. Ray Davies', lead singer and songwriter for The Kinks will select one winner who will be invited to spend a day with the band at the famous London 'Konk Studios' to have their track fully produced. http://apps.facebook.com/talenthouse-ap ... 500059423/They are also releasing the 44-track 'Waterloo Sunset: The Very Best Of The Kinks & Ray Davies’ celebrating the band's six decade career in the music industry. About 'Best Of' The 2-CD, 44-track ‘Waterloo Sunset: The Very Best Of The Kinks & Ray Davies’ (also out August 13th) is a new retrospective celebrating a career spanning six decades of music. Disc One rounds up all the chart smashes and best-loved classics, including ‘Days’ (a cover by Kirsty MacColl was a UK Top 10 hit) and ‘David Watts’ (famously covered by The Jam in 1978) while Disc Two, personally curated by Ray, gathers together for the first time 21 Kinks and solo songs about London, from the Carnaby-Street-lampooning ‘Dedicated Follower Of Fashion’ to that glorious paean to London’s post-War dancehall culture ‘Come Dancing’.

I'm interested to see the tracklist.....but if there's no new/unreleased material, I'll probably pass.
I have every regular Kinks album, and both of Ray's solos.....my being a completist usually stops at "best of" albums with nothing new.
For anyone who didn't buy for the UK edition of the Khoral album, Postcard From London will likely be a new song......(I'm sure it will be on the London themed disc)

Is any of this unreleased or not released in US?
Postcard From London - Ray Davies, Chrissie Hynde, The Crouch End Festival Chorus ??? Is this a non-US track.

Postcard From London was a bonus track on the UK version of the Khoral Kinks album http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002S0OBNW/?tag=imwan-21Yours Truly, Confused N10 is from a Jools Holland compilation or Ray's Thanksgiving Day EP http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BTJCPY/?tag=imwan-20(I have both of these) Fortis Green is from a Dave Davies solo album - BUG - which I don't have yet The rest are available on the various Kinks albums, and both of Ray's solo albums (Other People's Lives and Workingman's Cafe), (Willesden Green is on Percy, which some people probably didn't end up buying)

Really, really weird comp. There's some stuff on there that I don't think is even any good, much less "The Very Best..." I have no idea who would buy this.
