Deep Purple gets more love from Eagle Rock when the label will re-release previously released live titles, Deep Purple In Concert 1970-1972 (1980), Live in London (1982), Scandinavian Nights (1988), and The Final Concerts (1996). All sets feature shows from the ’70s with the Mark II lineup, and The Final Concerts which showcase the 1975 Mark III lineup. All CDs are scheduled for August 16.

Are these just straight reissues?

It would seem that(for both Deep Purple & Twisted Sister) that Eagle Rock took over the license on titles previously licensed to the Spitfire label. Fortunately, the case of the Twisted Sister titles(whose Spitfire releases were wretched), the titles received new remasters on the Eagle rock label.

I forgot about these reissues until I saw them at a local BB (which has one of the smallest cd sections of the local BBs - so talk about shock!) for 11.99 each. Anyway, anyone get these? Stepping back from the completist aspect, objectively, which of these are must haves? I actually prefer live albums, particularly from bands that stretch out, and do it well...but I am curious as to the quality of the sound, as well as performances. I recall mixed views on In Concert - is tha accurate? I am also supecting that the Final Concert would show-case less than top flight Blackmore (if he is getting ready to leave the band I could imagine a 'almost-by-numbers' approach. True? The other two intrigue me more - in particular the 1970 show (can't recall which - I think its Scandanavia (sic)), but then I wonder about the source recording... Anyway...if anyone has any insight on these titles I'd appreciate it (I know IP will have some great thoughts - but I also know how much of a completist he is regarding DP (and UFO, Thin Lizzy, Rush)...so, approach it like you can only take one or two to the island and that is it ).

NUR, I can't speak for the reissue/remaster quality; but i've heard all except Final concerts in other versions. IMO, if you like Mk 3 (Coverdale, Hughes, Blackmore) Live in London is Mark 3's best work; & the other 2 that I have heard are good. Neither Scandinavia nor In Concert are there best (it's easy to compare everything from Mk 2 to Made In Japan/Live in Japan, & all other Mk2 live releases do pale in comparison!), but I like them.
On Live In London, make sure the Eagle is indeed the 2 disc version.
I looked up last concert on Amazon; looks like I need to add that to my radar. Thought I already had all the classic DP I need (4 box sets, + 33 single & double cd's!).

I pretty much agree with Geff here. These are all hit and miss and are not really part of the official catalogue persay, but are also semi-official. Live In London is the one I'd get for sure, but even there, it's not all good. The 2 CD is the best route with this one. As much as I love Purple, there's too much live material out there and I really don't care for much of it. Even Made in Japan as legendary as it is, is too indulgent. It is however, the best live Purple release. The upcoming 6 CD remaster (2 CDs of all 3 nights) might be great or might be overkill!

I was hoping they might release a full show from the Perfect Strangers Tour.
