There was talk a little while back here about the DC box set going out of print. I was just checking prices on line to see if I could get a good deal buying the Crosby Remaster along with the new Neil Young, & I've discovered that the IICORMN remaster appears to be gone. Amazon is only offering it through 3rd parties, Deep Discount is out of stock, Best Buy shows backordered & ebay has pulled it from their pre--filled listings (although that could be an ebay glitch). Barnes & Noble is the only major of the ones i checked that shows it in stock, & I've had experiences in the past with B&N online being out of a title but not updating their website.
Might want to grab it now. Hopefully someone here knows something about this??

What would be the point of remastering and making it only to have it go out of print that fast? Of course I am inputing a portion of common sense to the record industry and you know how that always gets us in trouble?
If it did go OOP then they are morons. First, it will never be a collector's item as 99% of all CD's drop in value immediately and second, his fan base is small enough and too old to marginalize us even further by making it harder to puchase it and others like it. (but there I go again, applying logic-damn it!)
Thanks for the heads up though.

I've spent the day hunting for one both on line & at stores. While I have no insider info (& I really hope someone who does will comment) it is currently out of print in the US. I found 1 copy at Wherehouse for a whopping $27.99 + tax & I nabbed it.
In addition to the stores I mentioned above, it is also oop at Borders, Circuit City & buy.com; & "on backorder" at CD Universe. The one that clinched it for me was Amazon not showing it as on order, but as unavailable.
Amazon UK shows it as being in stock, & their are a few copies on ebay, half.com & through 3rd parties on Amazon US.

I dont know about online, and I dont know if it is or going OOP... but I am regularly seeing the deluxe edition IICORMN in the stores here... usually B&N and CC. Seems no one is really interesting in buying them. I had no desire in purchasing one because the regular CD sounds great, and the bonus track appears on Voyage.

Steve,
FWIW, it's a different mix and edit of "Kids and Dogs" on the remaster vs. VOYAGE.

This is also one of the very few cd releases I've heard that sounds better then the original vinyl. I owned both US & German vinyl copies at one time.

I ordered it from Deep Discount with an anticipated ship date of Mar.16
I'll believe it when I see it.
If it doesn't show pretty quick I'll start searching for it elsewhere

As of today, the expanded/remastered IICORMN still appears to be out of print in the US & available in the UK. I'd like to know why.

At the moment there are only two copies left in stock at Amazon, via their third party dealers. I believe there were about 15 when Geff began this thread, so it's probably a good time to grab them:

I don't recall any word that this was limited when it was first released. Was there and I just missed it? Has there been any explaination as to why it is being discontinued? The fact that it is nearly impossible to find just a couple of months after the release defies any 'limited audience interest' argument.

It's on "backorder" from the distribution company we use at the store.
This usually means "no more coming".

I don't know what everyone is so upset about. Amazon has it listed that it is "in stock". They must have found an additional 25 copies.

My mistake, when i saw people were talking about a box set, I assumed (incorrectly) that you were discussing the Voyager box set, not the 2 disc set.
Sorry

I'm listening to this album right now, and I swear it gets better with age. It's going to be a real shame if it goes out of print.
Which makes me wonder...is the original CD version on Atlantic still in print? Could that happen?

I wonder whether they're simply planning to re-release the title as a single disc CD remaster, like the the Doors reissues. Seems like most of these CD/DVD combos from Warner are being phased out very quickly.

Yes, the original cd is still in print:

Sound quality is MUCH better on the remaster, though.
