First time on CD for the first two U.S. albums from the Scottish popsters: Bay City Rollers (1975) and Rock N' Roll Love Letter (1976). The tracklistings of their albums were a little different in Europe than in the U.S. Our two-fer of Bay City Rollers and Rock N' Roll Love Letter encompasses the original American lineup of songs. We have also used the original U.S. album cover artwork.

Will this have the US mixes on it?

Good question. But aside from the string-less version of "Give A Little Love" and a slightly different edit of "La Belle Jeane," I don't recall there being differences between the UK and US mixes.

Then again, I haven't listened to the US albums since the days of vinyl, so it's possible there are differences.

It'll be fun to find out once I get this CD.

IIRC, Dedication also had a unique American configuration, so I wonder if Wounded Bird might be planning a Dedication/It's A Game two-fer in the future ....

The US mix of "Summerlove Sensation" was also different from the UK version, so I'd imagine the US mix will be on the Wounded Bird CD. It has more strings and instrumentation, a much better mix IMO. This mix has already come out on one other CD, though - the US CD "Definitive Collection". One of the people behind that project made sure to get the US mix of the song on it.

Interestingly, they use the mix of "Give A Little Love" with the strings (the original US BCR LP had the string-less version). Kind of a reversal of what happened when the remaster of Wouldn't You Like It included the string-less version whereas the original UK LP-- well, you get the idea!

Also, the original US LP of Rock And Roll Love Letter had a slightly different edit of "La Belle Jeane", but this CD has the UK edit.

Oh well, nothing's perfect.

Good sound quality -- there's no remastering credit -- and the booklet produces (in miniature) the LP back covers (RARLL is folded out to show the portrait of the BCR that extended to the back cover and the inner booklet reproduces RARLL's inner gatefold sleeve, with pics of the BCR!

And, par for the course, the first that the band knew of it was when it was advertised! Presumably Arista will have sold a licence to Wounded Bird Records. Under normal circumstances the artists would get a percentage of that licensing fee. But when have financial dealings between Bell/Arista/Sony/BMG & The Rollers ever been normal?
