Product Description
As part of the first generation of indie-rockers, Human Switchboard were transplants from Ohio that found their way into the NYC club scene of the early 1980s. Inspired by the writing of the Velvet Underground, Bob Pfeifer, Myrna Marcarian and Ron Metz, along with an endless slew of bass players, worked up a great batch of edgy post punk rockers with battling boy/girl vocals before imploding. This collection documents the Human Switchboards integral contribution to the history of alternative music.

Been waiting for this quite some time. From what I've been told, it was originally going to be a double comp, but 21 songs is generous. The album, most of the 3 singles and what I assume are either live tracks or the demos they did with Mike Thorne. All of it is worthy and I'm hoping the demos are there, because from what I heard at the time they were pretty great, and the later live stuff is scorching. They were actually growing by leaps and bounds as a band, especially live, but the internal stuff and general personal craziness just doomed them. Anyone interested in this period of music who has never heard this band will need to pick this up, it's an essential purchase.

I got an advance promo. Included is a download card good for 19 additional tracks. I would've preferred a double CD, but at least they're making the material available.

Excellent. Hopefully it will be a lot of live tracks. And yes, it's wonderful that this is available again, been out of print for too long.

From what I've read, the mix on this is better than the original album, which suffered from a lack of bass, rendering it rather flat sounding. Didn't take away from the quality of the songs at all, though. There are a bunch of tracks, both live and from the album/singles, up at You Tube for anyone who is interested in checking out this most worthy band.
