Whitesnake are to have a box set released on November 7. And they’re also playing live at the end of the year.

Titled Box O’Snakes: The Sunburst Years 1978-1982, the box has every studio and live album from the period, two previously unreleased BBC concerts, a limited edition seven inch, a DVD and a 90-page book with new interview and unseen photos.

This IS the classic Whitesnake, and it rules. However, I have all the remasters and these are missing the bonus cuts. It also seems the live CDs for the most part include most of those bonus cuts (the live ones), but there is some additional rare live material.
I'd be very interested in the book and the DVD, but that Largo, MD show is widely available as a boot. It's a pro-shot gig running about 40 minutes when they opened for Jethro Tull and is of good, not great quality from the in-house cameras (many shows have leaked out from this venue).
I'd still like to have this, but my actual need for it and the price (whatever it will be) most likely means I'll have to pass. Maybe the DVD will come out seperately.
Just another cash grab by a label sticking it to the fans by adding just enough to make you buy all this all over again! Not me!

The blame for the lack of the already available studio bonus tracks may reside with David Coverdale. For the albums originally released by Sunburst/United Artists in the UK, David Coverdale owns these albums.

Those cuts already surfaced on the EMI remasters-makes no difference and Coverdale didn't block those at all. In fact, he was a big part of those remasters happening.

I would love to have just the bonus material on the CD's/DVD's as well. I have all of the remasters, as you do Pete, and there is no way I'm going to pay for this. My guess is the DVD and 2 concerts on CD will pop up eventually on their own.

I hope so-but I'm doubtful. I can easily get the live show on DVD so it's just as well I guess. I still hope Coverdale will reunite the vintage Whitesnake for a tour but that wouldn't play the US I'm afraid.

Give it a 6 mths to a year. Once the other merchants get their hands on it will find this a good price (I hope).
