Product Description
Cut in Chicago late in 1966 with renowned Windy City soul producer-songwriter Monk Higgins at the helm, 'Call My Name' was very much the precursor of 1968's Muscle Shoals-recorded 'Tell Mama' long-player, yet it has never been released in the CD age. The 'Call My Name' albums 12 original tracks are bolstered here with a generous 12 bonus titles recorded variously in Alabama, Memphis and Chicago between 1967 and 1969. This is the first time this record has been issued on CD.

Product Description
CD Description
* Etta James is one of the greatest-ever singers of soul and R&B, male or female.
* Her glory years were spent with Chess Records of Chicago, for whom she released 13 marvellous albums between 1960 and 1975. Curiously, fewer than half of them have ever been reissued in their entirety on CD. Kent are delighted to help rectify that shameful oversight with this first-time reissue of Etta's superb 1967 LP "Call My Name".

* This is the first of a series of CD releases for Etta's Chess albums. All will include copious bonus tracks.

* Cut in Chicago late in 1966 with renowned Windy City soul producer-songwriter Monk Higgins at the helm, "Call My Name" was very much the precursor of 1968's Muscle Shoals-recorded "Tell Mama" long-player, yet it has never been released in the CD age. The "Call My Name" album is bolstered here with a generous 12 bonus titles recorded variously in Alabama, Memphis and Chicago between 1967 and 1969.

* Every track is mastered from master tapes. Not a disc dub in sight.

* Compilation and notes by Mick Patrick.
