Maybe it is not an exclusive to the store? But I had not heard it.

Where are you seeing that on NYA? I'm only seeing it on Storytone.

It showed up in My Downloads along with the Archives tracks, I never looked elsewhere.

I looked at his site a couple hours ago. He lists 4 download singles as a bonus, but they are all on the box, as is Who's Gonna Stand up. Maybe it's a different version, but the store shows several different versions all of which are already released on various versions of Storytone. It's Neil, who knows??

This box set truly shows to me that Neil Young is one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. I have had the opportunity to listen to this complete and I am convinced of Neil's genius. Definitely something that I will get once they are available in Australia.

absolutely no question about the genius (yes, genius) of neil young.

'archives 1' and 'archives 2' really do prove that.

i don't know how far 'archives 3' will go (or if it will ever even happen) but up until 2000 young rivals anyone in music (rock or otherwise) as a songwriter. dylan included.

i don't know what happened to him since 2000, i know he has not sat back and rested on his past laurels, consistently releasing new music almost annually. not many will disagree that his quality of songwriting has fallen, but that could be due to a whole lot of things that no one knows about. he should consider the old idea of quality over quantity.

i truly believe that one more go round with CSN would due him a whole world of good, and if he really can't deal with crosby anymore then call stills and do another stills-young band, stephen always brings out the best in neil and visa-versa.

time will tell.

Loving the live show's up on NYA now. Listened to the 2013 Crazy Horse and 1989 shows while working from home. Nice bonus while waiting for my box to show up.

A couple days ago I pulled out the Archives I box, and I've really been enjoying it. I hadn't listened to any of it for a while. I tend to do that with box sets -- I listen once or twice, then put them away.

I did get the Archives II deluxe box. I was going to cancel my order, but I couldn't find an email or any way to cancel on the NYA site. I started to wonder if the order was even placed, but then it showed up. I may stash it away and think about selling it after the smaller version comes out and the deluxe starts selling for big bucks.

i agree with your thought process....just do not open it, a sealed set will bring much more than one that is open. unless of course you really really want that $100 book.

Too late -- I caved and opened it. I had to hear it. Never saw a download email. I know it would be worth more sealed, but that's OK. Should still fetch a pretty penny a couple years down the road in near mint condition.

FYI, it's good.

you will lose a little having it open, but the law of supply and demand will hopefully be in your favor with this one.

looking forward to march 5, although i doubt i get it that day.

if i may ask:

how many of the stills-young band songs have the crosby*nash vocals on them? i've seen conflicting reports: with 2, 3 and 4.

Two, Ocean Girl and Midnight On The Bay. There's also a previously unreleased version of Human Highway from the same sessions with CSNY vocals, if you want to count that.

OK, i'm gonna be a pain in the ass, last question: tell me about 'separate ways"....a stills-young band song? and is there another unreleased stills-young band song?

It's all in the wikipedia article (Thanks Geff), but yes, there's a studio version of Separate Ways recorded by the Stills-Young band, in addition to the version on Homegrown.

So this isn’t a cover of the Schon-Cain classic?

No. Neil didn't cover a Journey song from the future. He's amazing, but not that amazing.

The original set & the 192 files for those who purchased on NYA are already in people's hands. This one is real, though nowhere in the league of Vol 1 (IMO).

got an email today saying i will receive 'archives 2" between march 16 and march 19.

interesting in that i ordered and paid for this on december 6 2020, almost 4 months prior to the day of its release.

why on earth would it take 2 weeks after its release to get to me?

i guess after a 4 month wait i shouldn't be bitching, but after a 4 month wait i kind of really want the thing.

very interesting that other sell site have lowered the price of 'archives 2 to right around $105, yet amazon hasn't budged since the initial announcement.

linda,

what do think, is it coming down before friday?

Your guess is as good as mine, Renny. Amazon usually ends up lowest, but this is coming down to the wire, so if you're very worried then buy it from elsewhere. I'm going to let my pre-order ride.
