if it is the 10 CD's and the book in paper back, it might not be such a bad deal, if it is just the 10 CD's (3 of which most already have) it isn't over the top, but it is a wee bit high, at $16 per CD.

we'll see.........................

$22.85/disc if you bought the three that have already been released.

You ain't gonna believe this, Neil's Archives site announced today that there is gonna be a 2nd edition of the original Vol II big box after all.

So you have a choice, the 2nd edition of the big box, OR the retail version in a revised downsized box.

!! Ylgoom Ylgoog Taerg !!

Oops, banzaibid beat me to it...

I’ll wait until the 2nd edition of the scaled down box

So, I ordered the expensive, limited edition box set because it was the only way to get all the music I wanted. Now NY is telling me that all of that music will be available in some less expensive form at a later date. Not only that, but the value of the box set will be less because none of the music will be exclusive to that collection. All of this comes in addition to the fact that a number of recent archive releases are included in the box set.

And somebody apparently thinks that adding two vintage versions of "Wonderin'" to After the Gold Rush makes it a desirable "50th Anniversary" edition. Yeah, I don't think so.

I believe when the Archives II box set arrives my Neil Young collection will be complete.

You can cancel the very expensive box set.

By the time that this is all over, Neil might be in real competition with Paul McCartney to see who can have the most versions of the same product.

Damn Neil Young. I would have been happy with this smaller box. That book had better be awesome.

Yes, I could cancel my order for the big box, but I'm reluctant to do that before I can actually order the small one. I don't want to take a chance and get completely screwed over.

Sorry if this is answered in the thread, but what roughly what percentage of this material has been previously released?

the 'new' cheaper box, is also on the neil young archives website, with a picture. it looks like the only difference between the 2 will be the book, seems to be by the picture that poster will be in the new box too.

We now have a much larger packshot of the general release edition in the first post.

This release is such a joyous occasion on multiple forums. Listened to the downloads supplied today in FLAC, a nice teaser for the upcoming arrival.

you never know jeff, it seems that the whole neil young world is all topsy-turvy right now, and ever since eliot roberts passed away.

i don't even know who took roberts' job as neil's right hand man.

it's very hard to imagine that young needs money, considering all things, but who knows what happened in the divorce proceedings and what the kids get and just how much daryll hannah plays into the picture. he sure is making it seem like he needs the cash though.

You may get a buck or two at the used store for the 3 so lets make it $21.35 net cost per CD, not in the Canadian McCartney Box level of pricing. :D
We better take up a Go Fund Me page for Macca as well.

yes, it seem very very hard to believe that either paul mccartney or neil young could possibly have any type of money problems at all.

i know its 5 months away, but just a suggestion.

if you are seriously contemplating buying the $160 'archives 2' i would do so as quickly as you can. you won't be billed until march (if money is the issue) and rumors are out there that it will be just like 'archives 1' and when it's gone, it's gone.

it is the same price everywhere, so do us all a favor and order through the imwan link at amazon. hey, maybe the price will drop a bit by then!
