complete, when talking about neil young, can be a very big word......how do you mean 'complete'?

'complete' in that you will have all the neil young you will ever want,
or
'complete' in that you have everything that neil young ever released, making you a true 'completist'.

the second one is a very very difficult thing to achieve, and you should you be there, i salute you..

I won't have everything, because of course he'll continue to release material. I don't plan to buy any more, however, unless you count the proposed Deja Vu box set. I'm done with solo Neil.

i get it, i doubt i ever buy anything new by him again.

i'll listen to it first on spotify, and if i like it i'll wait for it used. one thing there is plenty of, is used neil young CD's.

i was wondering if you have gotten all of his substantial number of one-offs.

So, I ordered the expensive, limited edition box set because it was the only way to get all the music I wanted. Now NY is telling me that all of that music will be available in some less expensive form at a later date. Not only that, but the value of the box set will be less because none of the music will be exclusive to that collection. All of this comes in addition to the fact that a number of recent archive releases are included in the box set.

And somebody apparently thinks that adding two vintage versions of "Wonderin'" to After the Gold Rush makes it a desirable "50th Anniversary" edition. Yeah, I don't think so.

I believe when the Archives II box set arrives my Neil Young collection will be complete.

If the cheaper version is stripped down physical product I will be mildly disappointed. If it is via downloads available on his web site I will be very happy I did not wait it out. The value of the box decreasing would only matter to me if I was a flipper, which I am not.

This is going to be the most exciting "Mine shipped" in ages. Greendale is already en route as scheduled.

I only ordered the CD version of Archives Vol. 1, so I am hoping the stripped down version of Vol. 2 will be in a similar slim box. If we get something like that I will be content.

I stopped chasing that years ago. Lots of loose ends, as I'm sure you know.

never happen, too many years as a chemical waste dump producing zero music for there to be anything hidden away anywhere.

now a CSN archives series.......maybe.

there really are quite a few CSN songs out there that have never been on CD. possibly a whole album's worth.

I don't know if there's going to be much left in the CSNY vaults if we get the long-promised extended version of Deja Vu. Neil has gutted his stash. C, S, and N have released box sets with unreleased material, and there was the Demos release and the 1974 tour set. About the only thing left would be the Fillmore concerts.I just don't think there's much cow left to milk.

Newsflash: Amazon now has the revised downsized box up for pre-order, though the details on the page seem to be in various states of error. Initial price offering $159.98, due out March 5, 2021:

I was hoping it would be the same shape as the CD version of Archive 1 so I could file them together, but it appears to be similar to the Official Release Series boxes. So I'll file them with those instead!

hmmm, $160....a bit more than i was expecting, but we don't know what all is in included.

if it is the 10 CD's and the book in paper back, it might not be such a bad deal, if it is just the 10 CD's (3 of which most already have) it isn't over the top, but it is a wee bit high, at $16 per CD.

we'll see.........................

Just saw this. There is an "additional batch" of Archives Vol. 2: 1972-1976 available.

You can cancel the very expensive box set.

You ain't gonna believe this, Neil's Archives site announced today that there is gonna be a 2nd edition of the original Vol II big box after all.

So you have a choice, the 2nd edition of the big box, OR the retail version in a revised downsized box.

!! Ylgoom Ylgoog Taerg !!

Oops, banzaibid beat me to it...
