That's good to know. I normally would have gone for this package, but given my disappointment with the first one (a glorified best-of) and the fact that I've already bought however many disc from this one, I decided to sit it out. If there's a smaller, more economically price box or if the discs are offered separately, I'll be happy to purchase them.
I hear you. I ended up getting Vol 1 on Blu-Ray sometime after its release (can't recall the details, but some vendor had 'discovered' an inventory when it was generally thought it was out of print). I was happy to get it, though I had all the related Performance releases included. And yeah, the balance had a lot of GH moments. So it was a mixed bag for the money. This one - while prime Young era - holds a little less appeal to me for the same reasons. I also find no hi-res physical option to be pretty lame. Assuming the second batch of CDs are substantially cheaper than the current offering, I will likely pick it up at some point, but the price break has to be substantial.

Love the setlist, don't care for the price. Looking forward to buying the second edition... Hope volume 3 covers 76-79 in equal depth. Volume 4 could start with the '80 Hawks And Doves sessions and wind through the twists and turns of 80-85. Volume 5 could start with Landing On Water and get to Weld. Volume 6 can come out after I'm dead...

Cheery thought for the day: Volume 3 (not 6) could come out after many of us "older" IMWAN devotees are dead.

i wrote to neil young archives. my original note is at the bottom and thier reply is first.
Hello,
Thanks for getting in touch.
We understand your disappointment about Archives Volume 2 being sold out and no longer available. We've examined a number of ways to alleviate this, but producing more of the same boxed sets would violate our original commitment of being limited to 3000. We felt that commitment outweighed all else, and we knew whatever we did would disappoint some of our loyal fans, such as yourself. So for that, we apologize.
We do want you to know that we will be offering more Archives VOLUME II products as Reprise had originally planned, available in all outlets, and in much larger numbers. While not the boxed set, they will offer all of the music with a smaller book. The original large book that’s a part of the limited edition will be available for separate sale.
Thanks for taking the time to write and we hope you’ll understand our difficult decision.

Consider this, Please: a bare bones release of 'Archives 2". 10 CD's for $125: covers only in a cheap box. or the 7 CD's that true fans didn't already get for $100, same covers only and cheap box. You would make a gazillion friends and a whole hell of a lot of money.

There is a copy presently on EBay with 75 bids, currently up to $2000. I guess this could be an investment if someone changes their mind when they get their copy.

i understand that there are a lot problems going on with the orders for 'archives 2".
people are getting cancellation notices that did not cancel. and in some cases the website is still taking orders where there are no available products.

Who, me?
So, I ordered the expensive, limited edition box set because it was the only way to get all the music I wanted. Now NY is telling me that all of that music will be available in some less expensive form at a later date. Not only that, but the value of the box set will be less because none of the music will be exclusive to that collection. All of this comes in addition to the fact that a number of recent archive releases are included in the box set.
And somebody apparently thinks that adding two vintage versions of "Wonderin'" to After the Gold Rush makes it a desirable "50th Anniversary" edition. Yeah, I don't think so.
I believe when the Archives II box set arrives my Neil Young collection will be complete.

complete, when talking about neil young, can be a very big word......how do you mean 'complete'?
'complete' in that you will have all the neil young you will ever want, or 'complete' in that you have everything that neil young ever released, making you a true 'completist'.
the second one is a very very difficult thing to achieve, and you should you be there, i salute you..
