I finally bought the Wish You Were here SACD. I'm disappointed with the sound. It's too dark and undefined for me. The Master Sound gold CD Doug Sax did is better to my ears (haven't heard the other versions done by Sax).

Same for the new Dark Side of the Moon remaster. The stereo image is smeared and isn't as precise as the Doug Sax mastered SACD. James Guthrie can't compete with Doug Sax's work, IMHO.

I've been keping an eye out for this at Costco, but all indications are that they seem to be getting out of the CD business completely--I'm not even sure if they sell CD players anymore.

Any sound quality reviews on The Wall in terms of it really being any better than any previous issue? I just bought a 24-bit JVC XRCD of The Wall that I didn't even know existed off of ebay, haven't listened to it yet. Very unigue packaging as well, the outer slipcover has the regular artwork but with a cover flap and the picture discs are housed in a fold-out hard case that's made to look like a red brick. Full lyrics for every song as well. I've had The Wall on MFSL and CBS Mastersound LP and sold both, neither was anything special, I have it on Japanese mini-lp as well and surprisingly, that isn't anything special either, leading me to believe that the original master tape is poor.

Just catching up on Floyd news and the promise of a 5.1 version of the Wall. Yep, I would have been quite content having the Immersion Edition scheduled to include this… grrr!

What in the world makes you think this is a legitimate 24-bit remaster or even an official release?

Just replaced batteries in my PULSE set. I'll be damned if it doesn't still work!

Yeah, not exactly a smart (and definitely not a fan-friendly) move by EMI.

First of all-- I couldn't care less if it's an official version, if it isn't, it has the most elaborate and detailed artwork of any counterfeit title that I've ever seen. No misspellings of the titles like a lot of the counterfeits have. The "official" releases could learn some lessons from it. This is more than likely a pirated-version but it sounds awfully good, I'll have to A-B it with my Japanese mini-lp version from 2001, which I haven't listened to in awhile because it didn't impress me.

The Wall Immersion Box at Pop Market for $80 this weekend. Close enough to my desired price point that I picked it up. I became a Pop Market member about a year ago and had never bought a thing from them until this morning, and then picked up the Ozzy Blizzard/Diary deluxe set and The Wall Immersion box within 12 hours. If they keep hitting the prices I want to pay on all these deluxe sets I'll be broke within a couple weeks.

Now I'd really like to have the Wish You Were Here Immersion set, but Amazon still has it as a ridiculous $130 and there is no way I'd pay that much for it. Hopefully Amazon or Pop Market will get that one down into the $75-$80 range so I can complete the Immersion Box collection.

Anyone heard if any further Floyd special editions are possible? The lack of noise on this means I might soon give up and get the single CD remasters of those not yet given the deluxe treatment and buy the single CDs in those shitty cardboard sleeves.

I don't know, but if anything is going to happen, I'd tend to think that it wouldn't be until late this year or perhaps early or mid 2014. I'm hoping for lots more including a good deal of their BBC performance -

I'd be game for that. Out of all the BBC editons I thought Led Zeppelin had the best release.

That was a good one but the recent Thin Lizzy and UFO BBC boxsets put that to shame. The Bowie at The Beeb is great too.

I had heard a Piper and Momentary Lapse deluxe were in the works and read an interview about it-but nothing since and that was over a year ago.

Interesting that you mentioned Piper and Momentary because those are the only two things that I am expecting.

There is just to much early stuff that hasn't been widely available (at a reasonable price) for the record company to just sit on and not used, and there always seems to be an audience for the Barrett stuff. I'd still guess that we'd see a combination Piper/Saucerful box that would include those albums in both stereo and mono mixes plus all the singles from that era (and extending just past that era...think disc three from the 3 CD issue of Piper + The Early Singles disc from the Shine On box) plus a DVD of various Barrett footage. And of course, Scream Thy Last Scream and Vegetable Man could finally get their official release in a megabox and the record company accomplishes that which they love most...getting people to buy 7 discs in order to get 2 songs. I won't mention that they could now include a couple slabs of vinyl to jack up the price another $40.

And since Gilmour has stated that he wants to do a complete remix of A Momentary Lapse of Reason, I'd expect we'd see at least a 2 disc reissue of that...one disc with the original mix and then a second disc with a complete remix of the album.
