I wonder if they are planning on doing Nightlife and Fighting in this reissue series? I would hope so.

I sure hope they go back and fill in these blanks... I wonder why these two were skipped over as it appears they're doing the rest of the catalog chronologically.

I am so happy about these, it's awesome. Looks like mostly everything that should be here is here as regards b-sides, rarities and live cuts. I assume there are some alternate mixes/edits as well.
Bad Reputation has a very short bonus disc much like the Queen releases but at least they put "Me And The Boys" on there to make ammends for screwing up and not putting it on Live & Dangerous. Black Rose is the one to be most pleased with as so many of the rare tracks appear (hopefully cleaner than what I have from Napster years ago) such as "Rock Your Love" also known as "Rockula" and "Cold Black Night".
This is truly fantastic and hopefully, we will also see Nightlife, Fighting, Renegade, Thunder And Lighnting and Life/Live get the treatment, but rather than worry about what hasn't been done yet I'd rather celebrate what is being done!

I just hope they do things "right" this time - proofread the booklets & correct all the mistakes BEFORE releasing these, actually do new mastering instead of lying and using old masterings, etc etc etc.

Universal Music have announced a June 26th release date for deluxe expanded editions of three seminal Thin Lizzy albums: "Bad Reputation", "Black Rose" and "Chinatown"
Bad Reputation is the eighth studio album by the Irish band Thin Lizzy, released in 1977. As the front cover suggests, most of the tracks feature only three-quarters of the band, with guitarist Brian Robertson only playing on tracks 3 and 6 (despite a credit on track 8). He had missed most of their previous tour, following an injury sustained in a brawl, and this album turned out to be his last studio effort with Thin Lizzy.

"Dancing in the Moonlight (It's Caught Me in Its Spotlight)" was a UK hit single. It reached #14 in the UK Singles Chart in September 1977.

If Thin Lizzy got a bit too grand and florid on Johnny the Fox, they quickly corrected themselves on its 1977 follow-up, Bad Reputation. Teaming up with the legendary producer Tony Visconti, Thin Lizzy managed to pull off a nifty trick of sounding leaner, tougher than they did on Johnny, yet they also had a broader sonic palette. This is pure visceral rock & roll, the hardest and heaviest that Thin Lizzy ever made, living up to the promise of the title track. And, as always, a lot of this has to do with Phil Lynott's writing, which is in top form whether he's romanticizing "Soldiers of Fortune" or heading down the "Opium Trail." It adds up to an album that rivals Jailbreak as their best studio album.

This deluxe version of the album contains an expanded booklet by Alex Milas and contains new interview with Scott Gorham and Brian Downey. The CD contains many rare and unreleased tracks available for the first time.

Black Rose: A Rock Legend is the ninth studio album by Irish band Thin Lizzy. Released in 1979, it has been described as one of the band's "greatest, most successful albums".

Black Rose: A Rock Legend debuted at its #2 peak in the UK album charts and it is the band's most successful studio album. It was the first time that blues rock guitarist Gary Moore remained in Thin Lizzy long enough to record an album after previous stints in 1974 and 1977 with the band. This deluxe version of the album contains an expanded booklet with by Paul Elliott and contains new interview with Scott Gorham and Brian Downey. The bonus CD contains many rare and unreleased tracks available for the first time.

Chinatown is the tenth studio album by Irish band Thin Lizzy, released in 1980. It introduced guitarist Snowy White who would also perform on the next album as well as tour with Thin Lizzy between 1980 and 1982; he replaced Gary Moore as permanent guitarist. White had previously worked with Cliff Richard, Peter Green and Pink Floyd. Chinatown also featured seventeen-year old Darren Wharton on keyboards, and he would join Thin Lizzy as a permanent member within the year.

The first side contains the best material: the anthemic "We Will Be Strong," the pop perfection of "Sweetheart," the obviously autobiographical drug tale of "Sugar Blues," plus the British hit singles "Killer on the Loose" and the title track. This deluxe version of the album contains an expanded booklet by Neil Jeffries and contains new interview with Scott Gorham and Brian Downey. The bonus CD contains many rare and unreleased tracks available for the first time.

A new lineup has formed to take Lizzy's music to a whole new generation of music fans. Led by alumni Scott Gorham, Brian Downey and Darren Wharton (all of whom played in Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott) the stellar lineup is completed by Guns N Roses Richard Fortus (guitar), Bassist Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Ted Nugent) and The Almighty's Ricky Warwick on vocals and guitar. Hmmmm...all of them!
Or, for starters, I'd have to say Jailbreak, Bad Reputation and Black Rose. Although it's the most obvious, Jailbreak is quintessential Lizzy and what they're all about-the tough guy, yet also romanticized lyrics, the amazing guitar harmonies, Phil's soulful charismatic vocals, Downey's creative drumming-this is why the band broke through with this album and it's really the best way to start.
But, as an overview, the excellent 2CD Greatest Hits from 2004 or the legendary live album Live & Dangerous are also great primers.
If you do delve in, please let me know your thoughts!

I have the Dedication comp and Thunder And Lightning, which I got partly because John Sykes played on it.

One of these days, I'll have to pick up Jailbreak, as it has the only Thin Lizzy songs that get played over and over on rock radio.

I know you didn't ask me, but studiowise I would say start with any of these:

- Fighting (not re-released yet though as a D.E.). You can just go with a straightup album version. It is my personal favorite Lizzy album.

- Jailbreak - the new D.E.

- Johnny the Fox - the new D.E.

I'd recommend Jailbreak, Live And Dangerous and Life. Life is not quite as good as L&D, but it does cover a lot of ground and brings back some of the old guys.

Jailbreak, to me, is a lot like Warren Zevon's "Excitable Boy" - it almost sounds like a greatest hits record. I'm hard-pressed to think of a track I'd consider a clunker on that album.

So far all of these remasters have had improved sound quality over what was previously out. Not sure if these are brand new remasters, or were done several years ago and never issued. Either way, improved is improved.

I agree, & I don't think that mastering technology has improved in the last 10 or so years anyway. Mastering PRACTICES have definitely deteriorated big time in the same time period (or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that bad mastering choices have become much more the norm).

The last batch was indeed from the 2004 Japanese remasters and they really do sound nice. I was sent promos for the 2011 remasters that weren't used and they're good too and it's hard to tell if they really are drastically different-but too loud they are not!
So, whether it's the 2004 Japanese remasters or indeed the 2011 remasters by Andy Pearce and Matt Wortham I am 100% confident these will be sweet.
Plus, the bonus content here is killer and for whatever reason the Black Rose 2CD remaster is listed too cheap so hop on that as a pre-order now. Hopefully Chinatown gets there too!

If I was wealthy I'd be on these. I've just been spending too much lately especially with my business just about dead.

I got 2 "different" sets of "promos" of the last batch, one from Universal and another from a guy connected to the project who got them from Universal (but his DEFINITELY turned out to actually NOT be promos).

Everything was identical. I don't think they let the Andy Pearce versions out. They just pretended to (???).

Yeah, I'm in too. The Amazon prices right now are good value. I think I have all the bonus stuff in one form or another already but Lizzy is my fave band & I have to get these. I thought the last Deluxes sounded fine (but I have tin ears), and they were definitely NOT anything I already had, so even if they use Japanese versions again or do it right and let Pearce do his job from analog masters, I'll still probably be happy.

I'm disappointed in the (small) quantity of bonus stuff on Bad Rep, and that they didn't put get the Chinatown demos they were supposed to get for Chinatown D.E., but oh well. Maybe in 10 years they'll do these again with other bonus tracks.

This is plenty I have to say. And demos usually bore me, so I'm really pleased with these listings. It is a shame Bad Reputation doesn't have more, but I am very thankful they didn't just throw on a bunch of useless demos and edits just to fill a 2nd disc inflating the price for crap I wouldn't listen to.
I really do hope we get the rest of the albums (Nightlife, Fighting, Renegade, Thunder And Lightning and Life-Live). I'd even get an expanded 1981 Top 10 UK comp of The Adventures Of Thin Lizzy for the cover art!
