I was looking at the Joplin yesterday and was interested to see that the version of "Call On Me" was listed as a live, unreleased version. Some googling indicates that this may indeed be the case (sorry if I seem cynical, but the phrase "previously unreleased" is used rather loosely these days) as the only other officially released live version of "Call On Me" was a 1967 Avalon Ballroom performance on the 1993 "Janis" box, and this "Playlist" track is reportedly from Winterland in 1968. ("Call On Me" is not included on the "Live At Winterland 1968" BBATHC CD from 1998.) It is also worth noting that some reports indicate that the live version of "Move Over" is the version from the "Dick Cavett Show" in 1970, which has only seen vinyl release in the U.S. on the 1974 soundtrack to the "Janis" film, which is available on CD as a 2-disc import, and shouldn't be confused with the 3-disc "Janis" set.
I'm going to pick this up. Hopefully the digital liner notes will shed some more light on this.

Wal-Mart has a few of these titles in REAL JEWEL CASES. Any other Playlist's I've bought are the cardboard packaging. Wonder if this is just a Wal Mart thing.

Interesting. I noticed that Wal-Mart also had the recent Jimi Hendrix reissues in jewel boxes, whereas Target and other stores seemed to only have them in cardboard packaging.

That is strange, because Wal-Mart is where I first saw a lot of the titles in cardboard sleeves. Every other place I've been to has the Hendrix reissues in digipaks. Needless to say, I bought my Hendrix titles at Wally World -- and for only $9 apiece! Not bad for a CD/DVD combo pack!
