What I don't understand is what they base their inventory on for each store. 5 copies here, 3 there, it makes no sense. I placed an order this morning for in-store pick up but couldn't get the deluxe edition...hell...I couldn't even find it on the website. I did find it later in the bins as previously reported.

I had a similar experience at BB last year with the Springsteen box set. Order online for instore pickup the CD & DVD edition and provided credit card info. When I picked up at customer service they brought out the 2 cd set - certainly not paying 80 bucks for that. After explaining what I had ordered, they checked and said they had 5 copies. The rep returned 25 minutes later and said they couldn't locate any of them.

So there is no advantage of running to BestBuy for the Layla set other than it might be available a little earlier than other stores (and thats a big IF its in stock)? BestBuy (these days) is best avoided at all costs.

Well, Best Buy does have it, although I had to go back to the stacks to find the 2 disc Deluxe Edition. I was charged $20, while I thought it was advertised for $14.00. Oh well, worth the investment.

The only reason I went was

1.) I was off today - had to have a new furnance installed.

2.) Once it was done - I promised Fred (my basset a walk).

Took him to a wooded area near BB - since I was near there I stopped in - expecting nothing. As I said it was nice to get it but everytime I go there - the music section is smaller and smaller.

I was surprised to see the 2CD set prominently displayed here in Vegas amongst the new releases. The bin had a large $19.99 sign on it and it rang up correctly.

They had about 10-12 copies of the deluxe set that I could see.

I also noticed that they're selling those BB Exclusive 6 or 8 song comps from the Cars, Counting Crows etc for 99 cents each.

That's about what they deserve for their BB "exclusives" considering the deceptive labeling..............

Best Buy is pretty much always clueless.

Looks like I'll be making the trek to BB - for better or worse.
It's not available to purchase online. Got the Robbie ordered though!

my bb had about 6 copies in the bin (none in the release area) so i nabbed one.
popped on disc 2 first. the phil spector tracks sort of stick out like a sore thumb.
well produced, just radically different compared to the more organic, earth sound
that the original album had. it was priced 27.99 but rang up at the sale price.

happy birthday slowhand!

I went today after work to the local Best Buy and, to my surprise, they had a stack of them on a table as you entered the store with other new releases. The sale price was posted right next to them. I know the quality of the business has dropped significantly (as evidenced by recent articles in the WSJ), but they got this one right (at least in my local store). I ended up purchasing it right then and there.

My BB did not have the sale price noted, though they did have stock.

Picked mine up yesterday at BB. They had 4-5 copies in the new releases section. Really enoyed the first spin, particularly Disc 2.

I'd really appreciate some more sound quality reviews. I've had some bad luck with remastered CD's of late. I am debating whether to get the deluxe edition. I have the Layla box set from 20 years ago.

Disc 2 is worth the price of admission alone, imho.

Investment? I thought it needed an OBI to fall into that category.

Disc 2 is interesting. Not sure if alone worth the "price of admission", since the album proper in the set is way inferior in sound to the MFSL IMHO. Still probably a decent value, although I'd recommend waiting for Amazon or another e-tailer at this point rather than deal with the BS at Best buy.

To me the 4 tunes from the Johnny Cash Show makes it a must buy...well worth the price.

I'm happy with the way this sounds.

I'm also happy the "Deluxe Edition" label was on the plastic instead of taped to the cover as with some of the other recent releases.

Actually, when I saw it at Best Buy I was a little surprised it was a label and not a slipcase like the other Clapton Deluxe Editions. Have they stopped doing those?

Yep...no more white bottom stripe slipcases. They had moved recently to taping the white stripe on the cover....at least on the recent deluxe Traffic/John Barleycorn Must Die and The Jam/Sound Affects. I damaged my Jam cover trying to peel it off.

I'm glad they didn't do it here.....it's a nice album cover.
