Another example of throwing the surround DVD in an expensive super deluxe package with an LP I'll never play!

WHY????

The two most misleading words in the music industry today: "Previously Unreleased".

At least the reissue and the live album (each 2CD sets) will be available separately, although Dr. Evil's comment about the DVD is a valid one.

This guy who used to own a CD shop also joked about "Limited Editions," because most of them...weren't.

I have not been able to find the 2 CD remastered "In Concert" as a stand alone. Is it available?

That's how I read IP's post earlier in this thread...

Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs: The 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition stands as the centerpiece of a series of releases paying tribute to the historic album. Many of the elements within the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions will be available separately, and in various formats – including a single-disc edition of the remastered Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs; a 2-LP remastered vinyl edition of Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs; a 2-CD edition of Derek and the Dominos: In Concert; and downloadable editions of all configurations on iTunes.

But in IP's previous post, it says this:

Discs 4-5: In Concert (originally released as RSO 2659 020 (U.K.)/SO 2-8800 (U.S.), 1973) (super-deluxe edition only)

I, too, have not found this newly remastered "In Concert" available or even mentioned elsewhere as a stand alone 2-CD set...

Well, I have to start looking into this! If I can avoid the "Super Duper Deluxe thing", I will! I just want the music. On CD. I don't need the extra stuff! From the picture on Amazon.com, I can't tell if there's been any effort taken to faithfully reproduce the original album artwork (as lame or generic as it may have been -- especially compared to the studio set of "Layla") of the "In Concert" two record set. I don't see any indication.

If anyone here has confirmation of a separate "In Concert" release, please provide info! Thanks much!

Amazon is now showing the 2-CD Deluxe Edition (the second one from the left) as an April 26th release, with the other configurations still scheduled for March 29th:

This from the ericclapton.com website kind of bothers me:

• High-fidelity, 180-gram reproduction of the original vinyl double album, remastered directly from the original master session reels, featuring slightly alternate mixes of some songs.

Slightly alternate mixes of some songs?! Why?! Ok, I don't care if they are slightly different from the original album (and subsequent remastered original mix CD), but don't make them available only on vinyl!

Still no confirmation that "In Concert" gets its own release, outside of the Super Deluxe Edition.

Short of re-reading the entire thread, I don't remember if by In Concert we're talking about the original 2 LP set with the green cover that was reissued on cd a few years back (aka Live at the Fillmore), but I've never liked that album. Bought it 2x, & sold it both times.

Yes, that's the one. But I think Live at the Fillmore was remixed with some tracks substituted for others, Never my favorite live album, either. I do have it on vinyl. But I would also like to get it on CD (original mix, original songs) for the sake of "CD completeness". Not top of my list, but on my list.

The Derek & The Dominos box has been postponed at least a month. The postponement, Amazon's ever-increasing price, and Eric Clapton's unwillingness to participate in the overdub sessions (for unfinished tracks intended for the group's second album) has caused me to decide against buying this. I've got the previous Derek & The Dominos box and a bootleg of all the tracks for the unfinished 2nd album. Some of the 2nd album tracks not included in the upcoming box set require Eric Clapton lead vocal overdubs to make them releasable.
I had been wavering between buying and not buying. Universal Music helped make my decision.

Always wanted a copy of that "Tell The Truth/Roll It Over" withdrawn single. Looks like I'll still be wanting it for the original mix (or lack thereof, even, as the case may be). Looking forward to the Super Deluxe edition. I have to start saving up for it now.

Be warned: customer feedback for this Super Deluxe box(on Amazon's British website) has been so negative, that Amazon.co.uk has suspended the sale of the box. Disc-scratching snug disc pocket packaging, missing discs, missing pieces of memorabilia, packaging that falls apart Etc.
These labels never learn from previous(similar) mistakes.

Seeing this situation with this box and Amazon.uk is nothing short of disgusting. And this industry wonders why it has lost so many customers over the last few years! Certainly illegal downloading is a big problem, but things like this certainly doesn't help. When will this industry learn that the people who will shell out $100 for a set like this ARE THEIR BEST CUSTOMERS!!! These are the last people that should be short-changed with inferior packaging and incomplete sets.

And, admittedly, I'm somewhat nervous about the upcoming 45-disc Rolling Stones CD singles box(also from Universal Music), which I've preordered. Will the discs all be in decent condition? Will all the correct discs be included? Will Amazon be willing to resolve problems with one or two discs, without sending back the entire box?

Disc-damaging packaging in expensive Deluxe collectors box sets...is appalling. Take for example Sony's 3-CD + DVD + L.P. box set for "Miles Davis-Kind of Blue". The only way that I was going to be able to have the set with the DVD & CD's in decent condition, was to send the discs out for professional polishing/resurfacing, then obtain Japanese plastic inner sleeves(from Japan) to put the discs into, before reinstalling the discs into Sony's disc-damaging package. The plastic inner sleeves stop Sony's packaging materials from re-damaging the discs. And I wish I had acted sooner in using the plastic inner sleeves with Universal's 4-CD + L.P. & 7"single edition of "The Who-Live at Leeds". Taking the discs out of and into Universal's packaging a mere four times times left scratches on Discs 1 & 2.

Where was this postponed or did I miss it?
