Taped to the covers on the Rainbow DEs, too - I was surprised that they came off easily and with no damage. But I was sweating.

Any reviews on the super deluxe edition?
Never mind. It's not out until the 26th. When those of you that buy it get a chance please post a review. Thanks.

Well now, I'm very confused about this deluxe edition being at BB. I went into BB in Annapolis MD today and waited first for a clerk for about fifteen minutes then when I got one they didn't have a clue about this project. They had two copies of the regular old release in the bin and when I asked them to check on the Deluxe Edition, they came back and told me that they had them in the back but couldn't sell them until the 26th. I proceded to let him know i wasn't asking for the box set but the double disc set and he said that was what was back there and they were told they couldn't sell them until the 26th. I'm calling the store tomorrow to make sure this wasn't a giant mistake. The BB people don't have a clue to what they are doing especially with their shrunken little music sections. Very frustrating to say the least. And they wonder why we go to places like grooveshark and use our Roxio program.

I still haven't picked the 2CD version up yet. Haven't seen it in the stores yet.

My BB does have it. Unfortunately, "geek" is way too nice of a word for the average BB employee. I think it's more like "lazy moron".

I'll have to remember to see if they have it tomorrow.

Well, I called the BB in Annapolis and they finally checked and said they DID have it so I went in and picked it up the next day....they had finally put their inventory on the shelves instead of in the back room where they had kept it for the week...really good for sales....They were totally confused with this project and the box set....Hate when a customer has to do the stores job for them plus I was totally inconvienenced and had to make two trips to the store...
My nect question is...wasn't the deluxe edition on sale there? They said no and charged me $27.99 for it. After making two trips there I gave in and paid the price. I thought I heard it was on sale there for $19.99. Anyone with info on that.
Other then all of this buying frustration, I must say the project is superb. I have the 20th Annn. edition and this is very much improved in sound quality plus really good extra stuff on it. Highly reccomend but try to get it somewhere other than BB where they might know how to sell things and know what they are doing with music...oh that's reight Tower Music is gone isn't it?

I think the sale ended at closing Saturday.

Was the sale listed in a brochure...they said if I had proof of a sale price to bring it in with my receipt...I bought it on SATURDAY and had been in on Thursday before when they told me they didn't have it. This BB thing just keeps getting worse...and I used to really enjoy shopping there but they have really gone down hill when it comes to music...

I THINK so. I no longer have it, but BB should have a copy! You also might want to ask Linda if there is an archived copy of last week's "Sunday Flyers" thread.

I really want this Super Deluxe version, but the reviews on AmazWan in the US and UK all knock the packaging. Has anyone here taken the plunge? The Elusive Disc website claims it is Out Of Print already.

Where is the best place to buy the super deluxe edition? Apparently Best Buy where I live doesn't stock it.

As for the packaging, from what I can tell, the Live At the Filmore stuff doesn't include the original artwork. Unless it is somehow included in the booklet or whatever. Not that it was anything special in the first place, but it is nice having the old album artwork "faithfully reproduced". Especially if spending that much on a package.

I guess if Best Buy were to stock these they would be trashed anyway like the Beatles Box sets were -- with that security wiring they tightly cinch around it.

My BB had it on the regular shelf the week of the Sunday flyer. Amazon has it as of yesterday.

I picked this up at Twist and Shout yesterday for $109. As far as the packaging goes, well it is a little clumsy. Or maybe I am. At any rate the 3-D Cover Pop Up is fine. The goodies included in the box were three ticket facsimiles; a sturdy Eric is Derek button; the guitar cut-away of the album cover; a "collector's print" of the album cover; hardback book The CDs are packaged in a third panel of the gatefold album cover. When I opened the package, I noticed that three of the CDs were not in their rightful places. They were scattered about among the bonus goodies but, thankfully, no scratches. I did not notice the glue people on Amazon were complaining about UNTIL I put the first disc, the album proper, back into it's cut-out slot and pulled it out again. Then there was glue on the outer age. Same thing with the DVD 5.1 disc (which is packaged in the center cut-out slot). No glue upon first looking at the disc (of course, it was one of the three that was thrown about in the box), but upon retrieval a second time, glue on the outer edge. the glue comes off but it takes some effort and leaves a shadow. The book is well done with heavy stock pages and well written documentation of a familiar story...written well enough to add new insights (Bobby Whitlock's recollection of the last session, for instance).

The CDs themselves sound great. The DVD audio is especially warm and smooth and the concert discs sound better than I have heard them before (including my old MFSL set). I was happy to hear that the live Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad is the second show version from the original live album, not the one that was substituted for it on the Chronicles Live At The Fillmore set.

The Johnny Cash show numbers are terrific. I've never heard them before. Matchbox with both Cash and Carl Perkins playing and singing is pure pleasure.

Best part about opening the package? It SMELLS like albums used to smell in vinyl days (no doubt the two heavy duty vinyl discs contribute to that). I was 16 again for a few minutes on one whiff!

Folks, for this sort of thing I recommend rice paper inner sleeves. Here is the only source I am aware of:

http://store.soundsourcecds.com/index.p ... cts_id=212

They're not cheap as the Yen keeps going up & the USD keeps going down.

Geff R. is right. I highly recommend the inner sleeves. A great way to protect your investments.

I use these for the card board cases that hold the Dead Road Trips and Neil's cheap packaging as well.

They can also be obtained from CD Japan.

Amazon.com(including their third party sellers) have now entirely ceased selling the Super Deluxe Edition. Having not purchased it, I don't think I missed anything but frustration and grief.
