September 19, 2010 marks the 25th anniversary of Zappa's testimony on Capitol Hill and at Annapolis against the censorship of free expression by artists. In commemoration of this event, Zappa Records is preparing to release 'Congress Shall Make No Law,' a CD containing Frank Zappa's testimony. As part of the celebrations, the Mayor's office will issue a proclamation moving annual 'Frank Zappa Day' to September 19th in Baltimore.

All spoken word? - No idea at this point...

If ZFT doesn't overprice it, and if they produce a physical CD, I'll probably go for it. I do have the video downloaded from the intrawebs, though. Pretty much shows political douchebaggery isn't new.

Would this be the first spoken word release from Zappa?

No musicians to pay for this one...

And yes, Chris, first spoken-word (assuming it is) album release for Zappa, although he did do a reading for a spoken-word project. I want to say Burroughs, but I'm not certain.

perhaps they might have a second mix of Pron Wars...

Blood On The Canvas" a FZ/Eric Bogosian project was commissioned by the Los Angeles Museum Of Contemporary Art. It featured interviews and Synclavier music by FZ, and was supposed to be available on cassette from the museum's bookstore (1986/1987). No copies are known to have been released...tape traders have this -

FZ also contributed a reading of the peom - The Talking asshole on a various artist project...this too is out there.

I'm going to Baltimore the following week for a concert....definitely going to make seeing the statue part of the trip.

Now available for pre-order.

http://barfkoswill.shop.musictoday.com/ ... =971_40502

Only $18, and you get $4.99 shipping for your entire order for a limited time.

They sent out an e-mail that says the release contains some unreleased Zappa Synclavier music, but it's primarily about the testimony.

I'm thinking I'm not going to rush my order in. The ZFT's concept of what constitutes a fair price in today's market differs from mine.

Supposed to ship "on or around Sept. 20". Oh, and "stay tuned for another e-mail about What's New In Baltimore".

Whoa - just had a look at some of the downloads that the ZFT makes available through Barfko-Swill, and I have to say, in all honesty, I feel compelled to amend my comment about the ZFT's concept of a fair price.

[clears throat]

The ZFT's concept of what constitutes a fair price in today's market differs DRASTICALLY from mine.

Thank you very much.

Seriously - $19 for a lossless DOWNLOAD of "Imaginary Diseases"??? They charge $17 for the CD, and I've seen it in stores for less than that.

And Dweezil's afraid radio will keep future generations from hearing Frank's music...

Dweezil had Lisa Loeb. I didn't. That upsets me. :sigh:

Have you heard this? Is it Bogosian talking over Zappa's music, or something with both voices? Very curious...
