Are they frickin' serious? Johnny Depp poems? How pretentious. Seriously, who the hell would buy this? It's a shame as it seems there are some nice versions of songs on here. Maybe there will be a version without that crap.

IP, this may be very cool. First, Johnny Depp is cool, right? :} But seriously, these must be Jim's poems and his work at times is brillant. So its of interest to have poems be included and not just the music tracks inwhich most cases we already have. Of course pgming the disc can omit the readings but I find the inclusion more than just an interest.

I dunno-sounds like Books On Tape for the acid crowd.

I'm not buying this, but I'll bet a ton of Depp fans will!
Well I guess I am one Geff. Actually the poems are not long, more like interludes. I really like the disc, got it for $9.00 at WallyWorld and it was put together cleverly. And as for Johnny Depp "What an honor to have been involved, I am proud of this as anything I have ever done."
Blue-Ray/DVD and Digital download available 5/25/10. I hope to see this on the big screen before release though.

Rick, I second your enthusiasm for the soundtrack. The movie is well worth checking out, too. Not necessarily a lot of new information there, but it's presented in a clever and engaging way with a lot of great footage. The material from Morrison's homemade films are creepily worth the price of admission, too, and Johnny Depp does a good job of the narration (which is throughout the film, and more than just the poems on the CD.) Rhino and Dick Wolf both did a fine job with this movie...it does the Doors proud, and seems to be one thing the three remaining band members can agree on! I just wish they didn't continue rewriting history, eliminating mention of their post-Morrison albums as if they never existed! Rant for another day...

It varies.
I bought the CD last weekend with a gift card. It's quite good, though I agree that Val Kilmer should have read the poetry instead of Johnny Depp. Of course, the actual Morrison readings would have been best of all. In any case, the disc sounds good. "Moonlight Drive" sounds great on this disc.
