Product Description
A low price introduction to the work of the great Alejandro Escovedo featuring material from 'Gravity', '13 Years' and 'By The Hand Of The Father'. Alejandro first came to prominence as a member of The True Believers and then Rank And File before embarking on a solo career. This collection highlights some of his best recorded work and features material that's still part of his live set today. Stand out tracks include a stunning live version of The Velvet Underground's Pale Blue Eyes.

1. Paradise
2. Broken Bottle
3. Pyramid Of Tears
4. She Doesn't Live Here Anymore
5. Bury Me/Hard Road [Live]
6. Five Hearts Breaking
7. Thirteen Years
8. Losing Your Touch
9. Baby's Got New Plans
10. Mountain Of Mud
11. Pale Blue Eyes [Live]
12. Wave
13. Rosalie
14. I Wish I Was Your Mother [Live]

Anyone pick this up? The lure for me would be the live tracks, but I suspect that "Pale Blue Eyes" is the same recording found on the The End / Losing Your Touch EP (and the subsequent Thirteen Years reissue) and I don't know the source of "Hard Road".

To answer my own question -- the live recordings of "Pale Blue Eyes" and "Bury Me / Hard Road" are from the reissues of Thirteen Years and Gravity respectively, so there's nothing new on this particular disc.

Would this be a good place to start with him?

It's a reasonable survey of his first two solo albums (some of which sounds a bit dated to my ears) with a few later tracks thrown in... but I usually recommend With These Hands as a good "starter" album that covers the spectrum of the man's talents.

Hands was later reissued as a 2CD set, but you can pick up a used copy of the original Rykodisc release at a cheap price.
