Here's the website of the guy who compiled this set, Derek Henderson. The site has a bunch of info about Gene Vincent (and Derek's various projects.)

I have spoken with him a few times in the past (about a different band.) He's a really nice guy (and VERY passionate about music.) He's also a whiz with noise reduction! As skilled and passionate as he is, I am confident that this set will be amazing. (As if being a Bear Family release isn't enough to tell you already that it's going to be good.)

I knew that mentioning the NR would freak some people out. I'm not saying he used NR on this release. I've emailed him a couple noisy needledrops in the past and he returned them to me in a few minutes, sounding nice and clean with no fidelity loss. Then again, they were mp3 files, so they weren't perfect to begin with.

Derek produced the earlier GV boxed set also. If you were happy with his work on that one, I can't imagine your being disappointed in this one.

I wish someone would reissue the last two albums that came out as a See For Miles twofer with horrid cover collage design. I've got one of them paired with a Bill Haley, so really I just need one album to complete my run - not counting this outtakes box, of course.

>> 2007 release of a 4CD box set (LP size) devoted to the woman who married both Buck Owens and Merle Haggard (and divorced both as well) but had forged a singing career early on as Buck was coming up the Country circuit. Years after their marriage ended, she met Fuzzy Owen and cut some sides with him, including the duet "Just Between The Two Of Us". Later in the 60's when she met Haggard, Owen was both managing and mentoring him and suggested they both recut the song. The recording shot up the Country charts and Owen would also later marry Haggard. She would continue to record for Capitol and those tapes are anthologized on this set. Includes a 76 page hardcover book. <<
